Hi everyone,

I encounter an issue for a very small percentage of my boards get a
flash corruption after a power cut. This system is a 64mb SPI Nor
flash with UBI volume divided into thee partitions.

After the power cut, the partition with the corruption (/data) is mounted in RO.
I tried to remount the partition in RW in order to remove the
corrupted file, but it is not possible, as the partition will again be
switched into RO.

I have seen old threads about this. With suggestions to run mtd-tests,
and perhaps add a patch to the UBI driver to ignore corrupted flash.
The mtd-tests run successfully.
I have not seen a way to force a switch of the UBI partition to RW, or
to repair the corruption somehow.

My question are:
1. How can i recover the flash partition from a board in the field right now?
2. What would be the best solution for future issue with power-cut corruptions?
(I read that UBIFS is supposed to be resilient to power cut
corruptions, but with a few 100k boards we do encounter corruptions on
power cuts)
3. How can i identify the corrupted files? The UBIFS log shows:
UBIFS error (ubi0:2 pid 816): ubifs_check_node: bad CRC: calculated

        level 3
        Branches:

        5: LEB 56:23920 len 188 key (128, data, 26)
Are all the inodes listed corrupted?

Currently, my solution is to copy the entire partition into ram,
truncate the partition with ubiupdate -t, and then remount the
partition and copy back the files.

Thanks everyone,
Ben S.
