This is interesting.

The problem is,  when I update my installation to the latest version along with a newer kernel I still get the same issues.  The log looks a little different but it still cannot display the Interlaced mode properly.

What version DOES support interlace?

Because you're running 2.9.1, which doesn't allow interlaced modes.
