I can't say for certain, but I think it's a tad confused - it can report 
'charging', and 'discharging', but doesn't know what to say if the battery
is at 100% and you're running off AC....It's been that way on mine at
least since 2.5.7mumble or maybe 2.4.18, so it's NOT a regression from the
recent ACPI patch.

Hmm, according to ACPI spec 2.0b 11.2.2.2 _BST ,
the charging bit and the discharging bit are mutually
exclusive and must not both set at the same time.

Currently ACPI coulde will return unknown if _BST
return value break above rule.

Could you verify whether this is a BIOS bug that
just as AML method expected, return wrong value,
Or acpi interpreter mis-executed AML code.

ACPI spec defined 0xFFFFFFFF as Unknown rate.
So it seems to be reasonable to display "unknown".
If you suspect this is issue, you can just verify it 
from _BST method.

I can't say for certain, but I think it's a tad confused - it can report 
'charging', and 'discharging', but doesn't know what to say if the battery
is at 100% and you're running off AC....It's been that way on mine at
