Hi,

I tried out, but no success.
I need to use Coaxial out, because i havent got optical cables.
Is the latest cvs working with coaxial spdif out?
I look the #codec, and i found this:
Node 0x12 [Pin Complex] wcaps 0x400301: Stereo Digital
  Pincap 0x0810: OUT
Pin Default 0x01452070: SPDIF Out at Ext Rear
Conn = Optical, Color = Grey
  Pin-ctls: 0x40: OUT
  Connection: 1
     0x07
Node 0x13 [Pin Complex] wcaps 0x400281: Stereo Digital
  Pincap 0x0830: IN OUT
Pin Default 0x01c50000: SPDIF In at Ext Rear
Conn = Optical, Color = Unknown
  Pin-ctls: 0x00:
Node 0x14 [Vendor Defined Widget] wcaps 0xf00000: Mono

is this ok?
then i try aplay:
Node 0x12 [Pin Complex] wcaps 0x400301: Stereo Digital
  Pincap 0x0810: OUT
Pin Default 0x01452070: SPDIF Out at Ext Rear
Conn = Optical, Color = Grey
  Pin-ctls: 0x40: OUT
  Connection: 1
     0x07
Node 0x13 [Pin Complex] wcaps 0x400281: Stereo Digital
  Pincap 0x0830: IN OUT
Pin Default 0x01c50000: SPDIF In at Ext Rear
Conn = Optical, Color = Unknown
  Pin-ctls: 0x00:
Node 0x14 [Vendor Defined Widget] wcaps 0xf00000: Mono

but i cant hear any sound from receiver.

Thanks the help.
Best regards

Hi,

I tried out, but no success.
I need to use Coaxial out, because i havent got optical cables.
Is the latest cvs working with coaxial spdif out?
I look the #codec, and i found this:
Node 0x12 [Pin Complex] wcaps 0x400301: Stereo Digital
  Pincap 0x0810: OUT
Pin Default 0x01452070: SPDIF Out at Ext Rear
Conn = Optical, Color = Grey
  Pin-ctls: 0x40: OUT
  Connection: 1
     0x07
Node 0x13 [Pin Complex] wcaps 0x400281: Stereo Digital
  Pincap 0x0830: IN OUT
Pin Default 0x01c50000: SPDIF In at Ext Rear
Conn = Optical, Color = Unknown
  Pin-ctls: 0x00:
Node 0x14 [Vendor Defined Widget] wcaps 0xf00000: Mono

is this ok?
then i try aplay:
Node 0x12 [Pin Complex] wcaps 0x400301: Stereo Digital
  Pincap 0x0810: OUT
Pin Default 0x01452070: SPDIF Out at Ext Rear
Conn = Optical, Color = Grey
  Pin-ctls: 0x40: OUT
  Connection: 1
     0x07
Node 0x13 [Pin Complex] wcaps 0x400281: Stereo Digital
  Pincap 0x0830: IN OUT
Pin Default 0x01c50000: SPDIF In at Ext Rear
Conn = Optical, Color = Unknown
  Pin-ctls: 0x00:
Node 0x14 [Vendor Defined Widget] wcaps 0xf00000: Mono

but i cant hear any sound from receiver.

Thanks the help.
Best regards
1g0R (G)

I fixed the SPDIF output on CVS now. Please try CVS version later.

The default PCM output is also routed to SPDIF. You don't have to specify
hw:0,1 for normal PCM output. Simply use "default" PCM like normal analog
output, but turn on "IEC958 Playback Switch".

AC3 passthru seems still not working correctly on my test environment.
(For AC3, you have to use hw:0,1 to access exclusively.)
Will debug later.

Summary: Intel HDA (C-Media 9880) SPDIF Out
Description:
When i set in modprobe.conf the options snd-xxx model=full_dig, there is no
output signal on SPDIF (Coax).
I try:
aplay -D hw:0,1 (<--digital out) else.wav
the command run normally, but no output on spdif out.the same with xmms
(with ALSA, on hw:0,1).

 1g0R - 02-14-05 22:28
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a bite of man page:

sbits <int>
              Sample bits: 2 = 20bit, 4 = 24bit, 6 = undefined. This
command is for the professional mode only.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
 tiwai - 02-18-05 18:55
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I fixed the SPDIF output on CVS now.

As I wrote, try to set up the SPDIF status bits properly via iecset before
running aplay.

As I wrote, try to set up the SPDIF status bits properly via iecset before
running aplay.

Why do you play 6-channel wav file? SPDIF supports only 2 channels.

Don't use "hw:x,y" directly. As default, the normal PCM output should be
routed to SPDIF, too. Make sure "IEC958 Playback Switch" is set, and run
normally like

  % aplay foo.wav

This won't work with AC3 output. For AC3 output, use "iec958" or "spdif"
instead.

Anyway, the value of IEC958 Playback Default looks strange.
Could you try iecset program in alsa-utils to set up the SPDIF status
properly?

Don't use "hw:x,y" directly. As default, the normal PCM output should be
routed to SPDIF, too. Make sure "IEC958 Playback Switch" is set, and run
normally like

  % aplay foo.wav

This won't work with AC3 output. For AC3 output, use "iec958" or "spdif"
instead.

Anyway, the value of IEC958 Playback Default looks strange.
Could you try iecset program in alsa-utils to set up the SPDIF status
properly?

Summary: Intel HDA (C-Media 9880) SPDIF Out
Description:
When i set in modprobe.conf the options snd-xxx model=full_dig, there is no
output signal on SPDIF (Coax).
I try:
aplay -D hw:0,1 (<--digital out) else.wav
the command run normally, but no output on spdif out.the same with xmms
(with ALSA, on hw:0,1).

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am also having the same issues - when I unmute 'IEC958' with alsamixer,
the 'Optical' light comes on on my receiver, but I can't get any audio out
with 'aplay -D hw:0,1 <file>'. This is on a Debian unstable box with Alsa
1.0.8.

My motherboard is a MSI 915P board, I'm using the integrated audio. Audio
seems to work ok from line out.

Summary: Intel HDA (C-Media 9880) SPDIF Out
Description:
When i set in modprobe.conf the options snd-xxx model=full_dig, there is no
output signal on SPDIF (Coax).
I try:
aplay -D hw:0,1 (<--digital out) else.wav
the command run normally, but no output on spdif out.the same with xmms
(with ALSA, on hw:0,1).

----------------------------------------------------------------------
 jbrsubscribe - 01-25-05 18:04
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've also tried the SPDIF, but am unable to get sound or record anything.
I've connected the optical output to my digital decoder. The decoder can
see that there is "something" connected, but it does not reproduce the
stream from the HDA SPDIF.
I'm attaching my codec#* here.
