* DONATION
@ 2015-11-02 11:15 Mrs. Gu Kailai
0 siblings, 0 replies; 99+ messages in thread
From: Mrs. Gu Kailai @ 2015-11-02 11:15 UTC (permalink / raw)

I am Gu Kailai the wife of Bo Xilai, one of China's most influential
politicians until he was stripped of his offices in 2012.

Read this link to have a better understanding:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gu_Kailai

I have decided to give out Donations to Charity, as the Government
will not Stop until they have completely destroyed my Family. I do not
intend to involve any member of my Family, as I will not want the
money traced to them. This is why I have decided to contact a complete
stranger who believes in Charity, to assist me give out the money to
help the less privilege. I have decided to do this because if the
Deposit is not cleared within the next 3-4 Months it will be Declared
Unclaimed, and it will be returned to the Coffers of the Government.
Will it not be better to have the Funds given to Charity than have it
Claimed by the Government?

If You will want to be part of this Charity Work, I will need You to
follow up with all I will state on this email. Firstly, I have very
limited access to the Internet, so I will want to be very straight and
detailed about what is required of You. The Money in question is an
amount I deposited with a Chinese but a Bank in United Kingdom, as at
the time of deposit it was deposit as a profit made out of Crude Oil
from me and my Business Partner . This Amount deposited is a total of
£11.4 Million Pound. In my present state all of this is not of value
anymore, I will rather prefer to have the Money used for Charity work
than have it claimed by the Chinese Government.

Secondly, the True content of this Money is known by the two of us
now. As I personally made the Deposit during one of my Trips to United
Kingdom, I had the Intention of having the Money Invested in Real
Estate in the United Kingdom before we had problems with the
Government. This was a means by which I transferred funds out of China
without a trace, and I can assure You that if You do not Claim this
money it will be declared as Unclaimed and have it returned to the
Chinese Government. This is what I am trying to avoid, and why I need
You to Claim the Money instead.

I know You will be wondering how You can claim the Money, this is
actually not an issue because when i was opening the account i made
the bank to understand that the Next of Kin to the account is my
business partner as all you need to do is to act/apply as the Next of
Kin (Business Partner) to the Account. This is all You need to Lay
Claim to the Money, You do not even need to Travel to the Office to
Claim the Money as this might not be too safe for You. As a
Beneficiary of the Money (by providing your name to the Bank) You will
Order for the money to be transfer into your Private Bank Account in
Your country, this is the normal practice and mode of Operation of the
Bank. So it is completely safe and risk free, and the Money will be
Transfer as a Claim from the Next of Kin.

This is what I would have done myself, if not for the problem myself
and Family are now into. With my present situation I will only be able
to give You the Name and Contacts of the Account Manager of the Bank
that is in Charge in United Kingdom, when You Open Communication with
the Account Manager as the Next of Kin by Stating your name and
regarding yourself as my business partner You shall be inform by the
Manager on how the transfer will be made.

I do hope You understand my Intentions, and why I decided to contact a
complete stranger like You for this project. I believe after reading
my above link, You will find a place in your heart to try to help with
this last wish of mine.

If you intend to help me carryout this humanitarian project please
send your reply to my personal email via work@langsonenergy.com God
bless you.

Bye,
Gu Kailai

Common Phil, I'm not that crazy! ;) If you consider that 1) I don't want
to sacrifice the brand new evaluation board Sean kindly sent to me 2) I
don't wan't to sacrifice my own computer hardware 3) I don't have tools
for doing electronics here 4) I'm not particularily competent when it
comes to soldering and 5) The evaluation board works through the
parallel port under Windows, so it has to work under Linux too, you'll
understand that what I am requesting is a software solution, not a
hardware tinkering guide (although your page is quite impressive, I
admit).

Either one of our modules can be easily adapted to handle the evaluation
board, or I'll write one, providing Sean can explain to me how to do
that. I guess it's a simple problem of writing the right things at the
right time on the parallel port. Sean, are the SCL and SDA lines handled
by the software and transmitted to the eval board through the parallel
port, or are these signals generated on the board itself and simply
controlled by the parallel port?

BTW, I tried our i2c-pcf-epp module and it led me to a kernel panic :( I
guess that it isn't supposed to happen, even if the module doesn't
recognize the hardware. How may I investigate and fix the problem?

I'm a hardware guy, so I like to workaround problems that way. ;') I
used to use my video card as a test platform since it had the I2C bus
available on a bank of jumpers (probably for an addition board).
Notice, too, that the AD kit I got came with both a parallel port and a
DIMM dummy, which was very handy.

Yeah, it should work w/ the parallel port. You'll need to figure out
which pins on the parallel port is Data and which is Clock. Hopefully
power isn't going to be hard to figure out (does it come with an AC
adapter? Or does it pull it from the parallel port?). Then, you'll
probably need to tweak the parallel port driver to match. Since it's a
bit-banger based driver, it shouldn't be too hard. All the info should
be in the eval kit docs (especially the schematics).

In particular many Asus mainboards have SMBus pins. I've never seen
anything advertised by them to connect to it... but I did hook up a scope
to one of mine to confirm that it works.

If you can get hold of one of those Asus boards... there wouldn't be any
*difficult* soldering. ;)

They sent an eval board without a schematic? Tsk, tsk. ;)

I think that i2c-pcf-epp is for a Phillips I2C controller chip wired
to a parallel port. If the eval board connects SCL/SDA directly to
the parallel port, then you want i2c-pport. This may also need some
work depending on how SCL/SDA are wired to the parallel cable.

Hi Jean,

In the event that you ruin the board just let me know and I'll send you another.

Also, in the next month we will be releasing 2 new chips (ADT7467/8), the eval board for these devices has a PCI connection so you can plug the board directly into a PCI slot that has the SMBus connected to it, no soldering needed ;).

This way, you will be able to plug it directly into your motherboard and talk to it directly with your Linux driver without any wires etc.

If you would like one of these boards, send me a reminder mail in about a month and I'll send you one.

>Either one of our modules can be easily adapted to handle the evaluation board, or I'll write one, providing Sean can explain to me how to do that.

The SMBus/I2C signal is generated by bit bashing the parallel port. There is no SMBus/I2C master present on the eval board. This means that if you can find a way to connect the SCLOCK and SDATA and ground wires to your motherboard lines then you should be able to talk to our device on the eval board using the Linux driver.

>I guess it's a simple problem of writing the right things at the right time on the parallel port.

Yes.

Sean, are the SCL and SDA lines handled by the software and transmitted to the eval board through the parallel port.

Yes.

> or are these signals generated on the board itself and simply controlled by the parallel port?

No.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Se?n.

Not the case for this one, it's parallel only.

Everything is actually in a PDF on the evaluation CD. Very nice
schematics. Power is taken from the parallel port (4 pins). I could
figure out what is on which pin. Unfortunatelly I am still not able to
see the ADM1032 on the bus. See my answer to Sean for details.

I got two Asus boards here (TX97-E and A7V133-C). If the pins are
unadvertised, how will I know where to find them? Anyway I chose the
software path for now... although it doesn't work.

Still I don't have the more simple electronics tools to do that, poor
me.

There is a beautiful schematic on the CD. You can't blame AD, their kit
is excellent. Had I read it before posting, I wouldn't have to ask Sean
about it (although my knowledge isn't sufficent to refuse
confirmations).

You're right, i2c-pport is obviously what I need. I tweaked the values
there to match what I read on the schematic. I think I have everything
OK, but I can't get it to work for some reason. See my reply to Sean for
details.

Just opened my two cases, nothing interesting in the first one (there's
a mysterious 3-pin port named PWRATX (if I read it correctly) but it
doesn't sound like what I am after) but there is a 4-pin port named SMB
on the second one (ATV133-C). It damn sounds like what you're talking
about. I guess that these pins are +VCC, ground, SCL and SDA? Any idea
about the order? Pin 1 is alone, then there's a hole, then three more
pins.

Actually, these are described in the users' manuals, at least for my
boards. Both of my boards have five pins in a six pin block, like this:

(1) FLOATING
 *  SMBCLK
    (no pin)
 *  Ground
 *  SMBDATA
 *  +3V

With a voltmeter, you can at least determine +3V and ground. And it
will do no harm to the hardware if you reverse SCL/SDA (besides
simply not working).

I downloaded the manual for mine, it describes things that way:

1* SMBCLK
    (no pin)
 *  Ground
 *  SMBDATA
 *  +5V

So similar to yours, without the floating pin, expect that it is 5V
instead of 3V. I tried linking my evaluation board to the bus using old
computer wires (the ones that are used to link to frontal leds) and was
quite confident it would work. Unfortunately, the computer hang at the
time I tried scanning the bus, and wouldn't start again before I
unplugged the eval board. I must have been doing something wrong. I
guess that's what happen when you try doing electronics with light
knowledge and no tools.

The good point is that neither the evaluation board nor my motherboard
seem to have taken damage from the experiment.

See my answer to Sean for the end of the story.

Great :) Thanks a lot, I will be impatiently waiting for it and will of
course let you know when I got it and how it goes.

Thanks again.

Hi Sean,

I just received the board. I'd never have imagined it would be that fast
to receive it. I guess that the "EXTREMELY URGENT" on the package helps
;) although it wasn't that urgent after all - I'm sure I'd have survived
one more day.

I could test the board under Windows XP - not as easily as it would
seem. I had to manually enable IRQ on the parallel port, or the
evaluation software wouldn't be able to detect the chip. For some
reason, Windows XP had interrupts disabled by default on the parallel
port so it wasn't working. After enabling the IRQ it's all OK. I played
around a bit with the evaluation software, it's so fun seeing
temperatures raising when I put my finger on the chip and transistor
respectively.

I'll now be moving back to Linux and try to get the board working there.
I don't know exactly how to do that. I know we have some modules for
talking to i2c devices other the parallel port, but I couldn't get them
to work. One of them (i2c-pport.o) doesn't present any device on the
bus, the other one (i2c-philips-par) show a chip at each address, full
of zeroes each time - so this must be wrong too. I'll be investigating
that now. However, I'm much more knowledged about i2c client chips than
about i2c bus masters, so I don't know exactly where to start from.

Has anyone on the list experience with ADM eval boards?

Thanks a lot Sean! I'll tell you as soon as I can get the board working
under Linux.

Yeah, don't be afraid to do a little soldering to hack something up.
Here's an old page I made with my experience w/ an AD eval board:

http://secure.netroedge.com/~lm78/hardhack.html

You might need to use an old DIMM to tap into the SMBus & power, or you
might be lucky enough to have some jumpers on the mobo which make it
easy to tap into these things.

Thanks a lot for the kind proposal. We always have been receiving a
great cooperation from Analog Devices, you're probably the sensor
company with the best support :)

I plan to add support for the ADM1032 (BTW, do you know of a motherboard
that has an ADM1032 on it?), so I sure would be happy if you could
provide one sample for me to work on. That said, I don't know how I
could interface such a sample with my computer. I suppose that I would
need some special test bench that plugs on the parallel port or similar?
Is it something you can provide too, or that I can buy somewhere?

Thanks a lot for your nice words and great support.

Possible, I don't know how it usually works. What are these evalutation
boards? Minimalistic PC mainboards? Specific PCI cards? External devices
you can plug on an existing system using the parallel, serial or USB
port?

I'm kind of new to this. So far, I've only been working on devices found
on my own PC hardware - or ones I didn't even owned. So, any insight
will be welcome.

Thanks.

I think it depends on the eval board, but the few from Analog Devices I've
received have connected to the parallel port, although it's easy to adapt
to connect to an I2C/SMBus bus (like with an adapted DIMM). It's a lot
easier to deal with than raw chips, anyways.

Hi Phil and Jean,

I do not know of any specific motherboard that can be bought separately with the ADM1032 on it. They typically have gone into Notebooks, XBox etc where the motherboards are generally not sold separately.

The general idea of our eval boards is to provide a simple environment that system designers can use to figure out how to program and use our devices.

They can generally be connected either through the DIMMs or PCI slots to a motherboard SMBus and can therefore be accessed by the motherboard. Our latest eval boards have an edge that can be slotted into a PCI slot to access the SMBus (when available on the PCI) and power these are not released yet.

Basically if you need any eval boards or samples let me know and I'll do what I can to get you one.

I was talking with Mary Burke who has also supported you, we both work in the same department so just let either one of us know if you need anything.

Regards,
Se?n.

Since Linux is being ported to the X-Box, I'm sure they'll want a driver
for the ADM1032. I'm on it. And I think I've seen a Toshiba laptop with
an ADM1032 onboard too.

OK, I'd like an eval board and an ADM1032 (or ADM1032-1) then :) Thanks.

Mary has been so kind and helpful each time we asked her for help, it's
simply marvelous. No other company has even approached that level of
support. Congratulations, and keep it that way please! I think I'll add
some nice words for you on our web pages, you really deserve it.
