Hello,

J?r?me, Gustavo, Bernd, Fabio, Gwenhael, Romain, Vicente, Yann, Matt,
Martin, Baruch, Samuel, Waldemar, Peter, please see below, there's some
good stuff for you :-) Thanks!

This was due to an issue building on big endian systems, I'm about to
send a patch that fixes it.

Even though this is a shared library capable build, it wants to link a
shared library against libstdc++.a.

J?r?me, since you added the apitrace package, could you have a look?

Gustavo, this is the same issue as the one we add with the old
CodeSourcery toolchain, but this time with a Crosstool-NG toolchain
that uses gcc 4.7. What is so special with blktrace that it causes such
issues?

There's a dependency error on iptables. Gustavo, could you have a look?

Caused by using PIE, which requires Scrt1.o, which isn't available in
our uClibc toolchains. Since we don't really need PIE support, I've
sent a patch that disables it.

The -Wl,-rpath,/usr/lib is wrong. Fabio, you are the last person who
bumped the expect version. Could you have a look?

This toolchain must also die, since it's glibc-based we can assume it's
bad for SPE (likely eglibc). And blktrace needs glibc/musl, hence for
SPE it's a no go in the end (i believe Rich was looking into SPE support
for musl, but will probably go for soft-float given the kind of broken FPU).
That being said, i think this is an old gcc bug, however i'm failing to
find the exact details.

It's mali-t76x's fault, since the package only installs binaries it
depends on mesa3d-headers for the headers, but in fact it doesn't, so
cairo builds before it.
Patch sent.

This is the big iptables/netfilter header debacle from 4.5.x, i can't
stress how much this thing will linger into future breakage.
It will need some preprocessor hacky fix, or disabling iptables support
which wouldn't be too nice (even if it's for 4.5).

static_assert() needs "modern" C11 support, and the feature isn't
checked for in configure, that's the problem.
Quickie fix could be an #ifdef since it's basically a build check.

Most of these are lack of xsi math in the buildroot toolchains which
need to get updated.
The only exception is sparc that lacks atomics and thus needs a fix.

It seems so, i'll take a look since it's supposed to work for nommu.

Yes, bfin with SAS/SATA storage is pretty unlikely, so blacklisted.
It's the usual weird symbol prefixing prefixing problem for bfin flat,
so if anyone is inclined to fix then it's welcome, though it's an
unlikely scenario since blackfin lacks storage ports compatible with
sg3_utils (sas, sata, scsi).

It's consistent for certain combinations of mips, so i defer to Vicente
(i believe again!) on this.
Always R6 ISA, little endian, external toolchain it seems.

I'll look at the musl build issues but make no promises.
Regards.

I've just run this config on my autobuilder, and the build was fine
(twice in a row, once with the machine already loaded, once with the
machine otherwise idle).

I'll do a few such builds in loop, just to see if the issue is
reproducible.

I already proposed a series of patches to fix musl build for ipsec-
tools on upstream [1] and Buildroot [2]. I'll update the fixes soon.

Gaah, indeed :-/

Python is a big and widely used package, it's a bit annoying to disable
parallel build for it. But I guess it's the best we can do right now,
unless you have an idea to fix the problem (but parallel build issues
are often complex to understand, especially in a convoluted build
system like the one of Python...).

I still don't understand all this PowerPC/ABI/FPU/libc stuff. I guess
it would be useful to write down once for all on the Buildroot Wiki
what is the situation in this area.

What I find weird with this issue is that only blktrace seems to
trigger the issue. Is blktrace doing something funky? Most other
packages appear to build fine with this toolchain.

I think the issue is hard to reproduce: according to
http://autobuild.buildroot.net/?reason=host-python3-3.4.3, it occurred
only 15 times over the last 6 months, while I believe the host-python3
package has been built hundreds to thousands of times.

Well, I was able to reproduce it at least twice on two different
machines (i.e. four times total, out of something like 30 builds),
provided they were otherwise highly loaded.

However, I am not sure we can easily do somehing about it. Disablign
parallel build is not nice, indeed. I can have a look to see if there is
something obvious in their buildsystem, but I can make no promise...

Regards,
Yann E. MORIN.

Looks like Bernd Kuhls had submitted a patch back in Jan. I've
retested his patch against this autobr failure and re-submitted the
patch.

I marked this patch as Rejected because it is wrong. Peter Hutterer suggested
a better upstream fix[1]. I'll test this fix and post an updated patch.

It's an issue with static builds and using libgcrypt. I've submitted
a pull request to fix the issue (see
https://github.com/iputils/iputils/pull/50). Last time i submitted a
pull request the author of iputils was very quick to merge my changes
so I'll wait to see what happens before i submit any changes to
buildroot.

Thanks

And indeed, it has been merged half an hour ago. However, I'm wondering
why you have not used pkg-config instead. The drawback of -lgcrypt
-lgpg-error is that now, even in dynamic linking situations, the
iputils binary has a direct reference to libgpg-error.

yes my first thought was to use libgrypt-config but in the end I
decided to keep it simple because iputils only has a basic Makefile
with no configure script. It's the same situation we had with linking
against the libm. I going to asking the maintainer if they would
accept a change to add a cmake or autotools build system so solve this
kind of issue neatly.

Thanks

Well, going all the way to autotools or cmake is not really necessary
to solve these problems. You can just call pkg-config from a Makefile:

LDFLAGS = $(shell pkg-config --libs libgcrypt)

and that's it. No?

gcrypt has it's owm libgrypt-config so you need something like

GCRYPT_CONFIG?=libgrypt-config
LDFLAG_GCRYPT=$(shell $(GCRYPT_CONFIG) --libs)

However, libgcrypt-config --libs always returns -lgcrypt -lgpg-error
so this method does not save you linking against libgpg-error. Given
the iputils Makefile does not currently use anything like pkg-config
or libgcrypt-config i decided on the simpler method.

Thanks

Gaah, OK. Then, yes your patch is the simplest solution. I thought
libgcrypt had pkg-config support, but it does not.

Will you send a Buildroot patch that backports the upstream-accepted
contribution you have made?

Thanks a lot!

Yes i was just holding off in case you wanted any changes. I've just
submitted a patch to bump the iputils version and checked it fixes
several of the autobuild errors,

Thanks

It seems that the libaio bump has broken the blktrace package on powerpc, see:

I don't know, I tried with several gcc/binutils combination without success.

Also grantlee doesn't build on microblaze for the same reason, see:
http://autobuild.buildroot.net/?reason=grantlee-0.5.1

Now the nios2 compiler issue on Qt GUI has been fixed (see Problem 4)
http://lists.busybox.net/pipermail/buildroot/2014-November/112605.html

Grantlee is unlikely used on nios2 or microblaze, maybe we should disable it ?

Vicente, what do you think ?

Best regards,
Romain
