Hello,

Chris thought I should send in a self nomination for
the technical advisory board, so here it goes...

"Rik has been involved in the Linux kernel since 1996,
both as a developer, and trying to increase community
participation, through projects like Kernelnewbies.org
and Outreachy. My goals include ensuring Linux can handle
whatever new hardware shows up, new developers have a
path to join the community, and users continue to be able
to exercise their rights under the GPL."

See you guy is Santa Fe!

kind regards,

Rik

I'd like to nominate myself to serve on the TAB.

I have steadily contributed to the kernel for over twenty years. I have
made contributions to memory management and an currently on the x86
architecture maintainer team.

Although I am now a MAINTAINER, I have spent most of my time as an
individual contributor. I hope to bring that individual contributor
mindset to the TAB to help ensure that our community continues to grow.

Many kernel contributors, like me, work for a company. We often
struggle to balance the needs of the community with those of our
employers. I hope to leverage TAB’s unique position to help bridge that
gap and help companies and the community both get their needs met.

I have steadily contributed to the kernel for over twenty years. I have
never had a job that did not include working on the kernel, and I cannot
imagine ever doing anything else. I have made large contributions to
memory management and the x86 architecture.

Over those twenty years, the kernel’s most impressive feat is how it has
scaled -- and not just to larger core counts or memory sizes. The
community itself has added countless contributors who have increasingly
diverse motivations. Although I am now a MAINTAINER, I have spent most
of my time as an individual contributor. I hope to bring that individual
contributor mindset to the TAB to ensure that our community continues to
grow.

Much of this growth comes in the form of contributors who, like me, work
for a company. We often struggle to balance the needs of the community
with those of our employers. I hope to leverage TAB’s unique position to
help bridge that gap and help companies and the community both get their
needs met.

Hello everyone,

I'd like to nominate myself for the election to the Technical Advisory Board.

I've been hacking the linux kernel since 1998, became full time
kernel developer in 2008 and in 2015 joined Facebook kernel team,
where I'm helping driving adoption of the latest kernel within
the company and connecting outside projects. In particular I'm a key
member of Technical Steering Committee of IO Visor Linux Foundation
Collaborative Project and maintainer of https://github.com/iovisor/bcc
In the kernel I maintain BPF sub-system that is used in networking,
tracing and security. In LLVM project I maintain BPF backend.
From 2000 till 2007 I've been full time compiler developer and hope
my unique experience in the kernel and compiler worlds will be useful
asset on the TAB board.

Thank you and see you at KS and plumbers.

Hello everyone,

I'm currently the chair of the TAB, a position I took over from Grant
this summer. The TAB chair is also on the Linux Foundation board of
directors, which really helps connect the LF with the kernel community.
I give Jim Zemlin and the LF a great deal of credit for seeking out
opinions from the TAB on important topics, and I'm hoping to continue
helping out however I can.

I first started using Linux with a stack of floppies downloaded from
tsx-11, and I've been working full time on the kernel since 2000. I've
spent the last three years on the kernel team at Facebook, and wherever
I work, I try to connect projects and people with the kernel community.

In terms of kernel projects, I'm a Btrfs maintainer, and generally poke
around in filesystems, storage and some MM. At Facebook, I help tune
the kernel for our different workloads, and pitch in on any critical
bugs that need help.

If you have questions about me or the TAB, please don't hesitate to flag
me down next week.

Thanks,
Chris
