Hi all,

In this second series, we refactor the code that XFS uses to determine
that it is dealing with corrupt metadata and report that to userspace.

The first patch replaces the XFS_WANT_CORRUPT* macros with open-coded
versions because it's a little strange that a thing that looks like a
simple function call actually has series effects on code flow.

The second patch cleans up all the "if (bad) { XFS_ERROR_REPORT..." code
by combining that into a single XFS_IS_CORRUPT macro that does all that
logging. This cleans up the error handling code blocks some more.

Patch three converts other metadata corruption checks to use the new
XFS_IS_CORRUPT macro.

Patch four converts some EIO-on-corruption returns that were missed in
an earlier cleanup patch.

If you're going to start using this mess, you probably ought to just
pull from my git trees, which are linked below.

This has been lightly tested with fstests. Enjoy!
Comments and questions are, as always, welcome.

Add a new macro, XFS_IS_CORRUPT, which we will use to integrate some
corruption reporting when the corruption test expression is true. This
will be used in the next patch to remove the ugly XFS_WANT_CORRUPT*
macros.

The XFS_WANT_CORRUPT_* macros conceal subtle side effects such as the
creation of local variables and redirections of the code flow. This is
pretty ugly, so replace them with explicit XFS_IS_CORRUPT tests that
remove both of those ugly points. The change was performed with the
following coccinelle script:

From: Darrick J. Wong <darrick.wong@oracle.com>

Convert the last of the open coded corruption check and report idioms to
use the XFS_IS_CORRUPT macro. In a subsequent patch we are going to add
health reporting to the code block under each corruption check, so we
don't bother to clean out "{ return -EFSCORRUPTED; }".

Convert EIO to EFSCORRUPTED in the logging code when we can determine
that the log contents are invalid.

We can kill the braces here now. Same for various other spots later
down.

Somewhat strange indentation here.

Why the restructure here?

This could have just become:

		if (!XFS_IS_CORRUPT(mp != -2)) {
			error = -1;
			goto out;
		}

not that I really like the current structure, but that change seems bit
out of place in these semi-mechanical fixups, and once we touch the
structure of this function and its callers there is so much more to
fix..

Why the double indentation? Also maybe XFS_IFORK_FORMAT_MAPS_BLOCKS
is a better name? Or maybe even turn it into an inline function with
a less shouting name? Also the addition of this helper is probably
worth being split into a separate patch.

> +		    head_block >= tail_block || head_cycle != (tail_cycle + 1)))

no need for the inner most braces here if you touch the line anyway.

I /was/ trying to save myself the trouble adding all of those braces
back into the code in the next series, but I guess I can change all
these and then change them back.

Oops.  Missed that one. :/

Yeah, I think Allison's deferred attrs series was going to clean this up
some too (...?) anyway, definitely not something to tackle here.

Hm, ok, will break that out into a separate cleanup.

Ok.

Ugh. I tried writing this as a static inline function but gcc then
tries to parse the function, which requires struct xfs_inode to be
defined prior to the helper. That in turn trips over files that include
xfs_inode_fork.h before they include xfs_inode.h, which is exacerbated
by struct xfs_inode requiring struct xfs_ifork which means that it's a
circular dependency mess.

So for now it's a macro because that's probably more efficient than
requiring a function call for a two line predicate, and less confusing
than stuffing it in xfs_inode.h.

Dave suggested xfs_ifork_has_extents as a shorter name.
