Hello everyone,

Quick update on the TAB elections, we have 5 nominations so far:

Jon Corbet
Greg Kroah-Hartman
Shuah Khan
Steve Rostedt
Ted Tso

The elections are next week, please feel free to contact me if you have

The Linux Foundation Technical Advisory Board (TAB) serves as the
interface between the kernel development community and the Foundation.
The TAB advises the Foundation on kernel-related matters, helps member
companies learn to work with the community, and works to resolve
community-related problems before they get out of hand.  The board has
ten members, one of whom sits on the LF board of directors.  The 
election to select five TAB members will be held at the 2017 Kernel
Summit in Prague, Czech Republic.  The elections will take place at the
conference center on Wednesday Oct 25th, shortly before the evening
reception.

The election will be open to all attendees of all of the Linux
Foundation events taking place that week in Prague.  Anyone is eligible
to stand for election, simply send your nomination to:

Just before the election, everyone will have a chance to introduce
themselves and briefly talk about why they would like to participate on
the Technical Advisory Board.  This year, we're encouraging everyone to
include those details along with their nomination, which we will compile
into an online document for quick reference here:

The deadline for receiving nominations is up until the beginning of the
election event.  Any statements for the online document need to be sent
by Monday Oct 23rd.  Please get your nomination in early so everyone has
a chance to review the nominations before voting.

[1] TAB members sit for a term of two years, and half of the board is up
for election every year. Five of the seats are up for election now.  The
other five are halfway through their term and will be up for election
next year.

I'm throwing my name into the nomination list as I'm up for re-election.

Here's my statement:

Steven has been professionally working on the Linux kernel since 2001. He's
the maintainer of the tracing subsystem, and has been very involved in the
development of the PREEMPT_RT patch set. He has improved the Linux scheduler,
and works to improve the performance of other subsystems when he discovers
inefficiencies. He is the creator of "make localmodconfig" as well as
"ktest.pl" which is a testing framework to help other kernel developers set up
their testing infrastructure.

Over the last ten years, Steven has been giving talks all over the world at various
conferences. He works hard in trying to bridge the gap between developers that
normally do not interact with each other, in an effort to make the Linux kernel
ecosystem work more in harmony.

One of Steven's first contributions as a TAB member was to improve the
TAB election process by including statements from all nominees to be
posted in a central location such that the election is less of a
popularity contest and give the nominees a chance to express themselves
for what they want to achieve while on the TAB.

Steven's focus in the TAB has been to find new ways to have kernel developers
be able to interact with non kernel developers. He has joined the Linux
Plumber's Program Committee and with his influence on the TAB, he is working to
make Linux Plumbers and Kernel Summit more coupled in the future. Steven has
been making a lot of headway in this regard, and is hoping to have another
term on the TAB to continue his objectives.
