Cannot play .au file with CVS Audigy2 driver

Hi,

The attached file does not play on my Audigy2 soundcard:

$ aplay monk.au
Playing Sparc Audio 'monk.au' : Mu-Law, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono
aplay: set_params:857: Sample format non available

I think this is a regression, but can't be sure. It works fine on my SB Live! (as of 12th March).

Did you redefine the "default" device?

The default "default" definition uses plughw:0 which automatically
converts sample formats.  If you redefine this with hw:X instead,
these conversions aren't available anymore.
