Hi,

since 2.6.38-rc1, the following shows up in dmesg. Full dmesg is included
below the signature. This is a Macmini1,1 i.e. a first-generation
Intel-based mini. I haven't experienced any actual problem during usage
but haven't used it a lot under 2.6.38-rc yet.

Hi,

since 2.6.38-rc1, the following shows up in dmesg. Full dmesg is included
below the signature. This is a Macmini1,1 i.e. a first-generation
Intel-based mini. I haven't experienced any actual problem during usage
but haven't used it a lot under 2.6.38-rc yet.

Ouch. I will have to get back to this tonight, but my first reaction
is that the error message tells the truth, because the sysfs nodes are
now dynamically allocated during init. Perhaps sysfs_attr_init() is
missing or something.

Thanks!
Henrik

The patch below seems to fix the problem, but a verification would be most
welcome. Gunther, do you want to take it, or should it route it through
my tree?

Thanks,
Henrik

Subject: [PATCH] hwmon: (applesmc) Properly initialize lockdep attributes

The switch to dynamically allocated sysfs attributes left the
internal lockdep members uninitialized, causing a formal bug.
This patch adds sysfs_attr_init() to the node creation function,
remedying the problem.

I can take it.

Looks pretty straightforward. Do you think it is ready for upstream,
or should I wait for verification ?

Thanks,
Guenter

I was able to reproduce the problem, but a verification would still be
good, just in case - if possible. AFAICT, it will be another week
before rc3, so there seems to be no rush.

Thanks,
Henrik

Ok, let's do it that way: I applied it, but won't submit to Linus yet.
This way we get some basic coverage through linux-next for a couple of days.

Thank you Stefan. How about a Tested-by, now that I forgot to add a
