* [PATCH v2 0/2] Move Freescale MXS gpio driver into drivers/gpio

The patch set moves Freescale MXS gpio driver from mach-mxs into
drivers/gpio.

Changes since v1:
 * Squash the 4 gpio-mxs patches into one
 * Do not add new gpio Kconfig option and use ARCH_MXS directly
 * Clean up platform-gpio-mxs.c per Arnd's comments
 * Add device mxs_apbh_bus and set it as the parent of gpio devices

Add gpio-mxs driver by copying arch/arm/mach-mxs/gpio.c into
drivers/gpio with the following changes.

 * Use readl/writel to replace mach-specific accessors
   __raw_readl/__raw_writel
 * Migrate to platform driver by adding .probe function

Add gpio-mxs driver by copying arch/arm/mach-mxs/gpio.c into
drivers/gpio with the following changes.

 * Use readl/writel to replace mach-specific accessors
   __raw_readl/__raw_writel
 * Migrate to platform driver by adding .probe function

From: Shawn Guo @ 2011-05-28 15:09 UTC (permalink / raw)
  To: linux-kernel

It replaces mach-mxs/gpio with gpio-mxs driver by adding platform
device for drivers/gpio/gpio-mxs, and then remove the mach-mxs/gpio
driver.

* [PATCH v2 2/2] ARM: mxs: use gpio-mxs driver by adding platform device
@ 2011-05-28 15:09   ` Shawn Guo
  0 siblings, 0 replies; 12+ messages in thread
From: Shawn Guo @ 2011-05-28 15:09 UTC (permalink / raw)
  To: linux-arm-kernel

It replaces mach-mxs/gpio with gpio-mxs driver by adding platform
device for drivers/gpio/gpio-mxs, and then remove the mach-mxs/gpio
driver.

Actually, as mentioned in my other email, I'd like to see this series
respun with a separate patch for just moving the gpio driver (without
breaking the build).

Also, I've been thinking about how to merge these changes, and I'd
rather take them through the gpio tree since there will be a lot of
conflicts with the other gpio driver moves. It will be easier to
resolve merge conflicts if I push it out to my tree and allow the
subarch trees to merge in mine if necessary.
