I am a newer to study qemu in xen,
I have no idea how to debug and trace the qemu-dm efficiently.

Please be more specific about the problem you are trying to debug. The
approach you take depends on what you're trying to observe.
Have you seen docs/tracing.txt?
All the usual Linux debugging techniques apply too (GDB, kernel tracing,
strace, etc).
