I'm currently trying to compile linux-cifs 5.4 on debian squeeze.
I have a working compiled version of samba 3.6.5 installed using the
following:
./autogen.sh && \
./configure --with-automount --with-dnsupdate --with-winbind --with-ads
--with-pam --with-acl-support --with-libtdb --with-libsmbclient \
--with-fhs \
--bindir=/usr/local/bin \
--sbindir=/usr/local/sbin \
--with-configdir=/usr/local/etc/samba \
--libdir=/usr/local/lib \
--with-mandir=/usr/local/share/man \
--with-piddir=/var/local/run/samba \
--with-statedir=/var/local/lib/samba \
--with-cachedir=/var/local/cache/samba \
--with-logfilebase=/var/local/log/samba \
--with-lockdir=/var/local/locks/samba \
--with-ncalrpcdir=/var/local/ncalrpc/samba \
--with-nmbdsocketdir=/var/local/nmbd/samba && \
make -j4 && make install;

Hi

The squeeze version of libwbclient-dev does not ship the wbclient.pc
file and as such the configure fails.

Cheers

Luk

Aside from wbclient.pc missing configure still completes and there is a
wbclient.pc with samba3. I include that path in PKG_CONFIG_PATH and the
two warnings during configure disappear. Now I just don't understand
these errors durning make:
mount.cifs.c:866: error: "bkupuid" may be used uninitialized in this
function
mount.cifs.c:867: error: "bkupgid" may be used uninitialized in this
function

Or is the wbclient.pc with samba3 that different?
Is there a wbclient in a different debian repo? which one?
