Looks like a problem linking with zlib or something like that. Not sure
if it's AVR32 specific or not:

../cups/libcups.a(file.o): In function `cups_compress':

Smells like a too old kernel header problem, but it uses an AVR32
toolchain built by Buildroot 2014.02-rc1, so I would suppose the kernel
headers are quite recent?

Usual rt-tests failure on mipsel, fixed by a bump of rt-tests, but
which was committed to next.

Weird problem. Maybe a binary that is too big for AVR32 ? Samba creates
really huge binaries. Should we simply disable samba on avr32
altogether? Or is it a specific configuration of Samba that doesn't
build?

We have the same problem on x86-64: some vlc library is apparently not
build with -fPIC. Could someone look into this?

It has caused the last 3 build failures of vlc on mips:

and the four last build failures of vlc on x86-64:

I did already yesterday evening. The mirror script runs every 30
minutes, so normally sources.buildroot.net should have the tarballs
pretty much right away, but the script got broken by the recent
BUILDROOT_DL_DIR -> BR2_DL_DIR change and I hadn't noticed it.

Fixed now.

PF_CAN comes from uClibc (bits/socket.h), and 0.9.31 didn't have
PF_CAN. Either we should mark this as !avr32 or backport the uClibc
change:

A short C-program test.c:

#ifndef _GNU_SOURCE
#define _GNU_SOURCE
#endif

#include <fcntl.h>

int main(int argc, char **argv) {
   return fallocate(0, 0, 0, 0);
}

That makes no sense but compiles without errors:

$> nios2-linux-gnu-gcc test.c
$> ls
a.out  test.c

But when I provide _FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 the library uses fallocate64
instead of fallocate:

$> nios2-linux-gnu-gcc -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 test.c
/tmp/ccQbizFP.o: In function `main':
test.c:(.text+0x30): undefined reference to `fallocate64'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

Regards,
Frank.

Yes, I've just run with "next" and ruby builds successfully.

Last release cycle I looked into this, found an existing bug report,
and added onto it, but without a lot of success:
https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113638
I managed to fix one part of the problem, but bumped into another one.

rt-tests was not bumped on next but rather ltp-testsuite was to fix an
issue. However, Vicente submitted a patch to uclibc that will add for
_tid specifically targeted for this package. Is this something that
could be backported to our uclibc version?

Specifically the commit is as follows:

http://git.uclibc.org/uClibc/commit/?id=b4e6e61e2f7c6fb4bf59f66efaa74591a2112912

Another option to fix the rt-tests-0.83 failures is to disable
rt-tests when uclibc for mipsel is used.

This is what I found when I was investigating a recent rt-tests-0.83
autobuilder failure. I will not have time backport Vicente's patch but
I may have time to submit a patch to disable this package in the way
that is described above.

Thanks,
-Ryan

If we decide to not add more uClibc patches on BR, then I think we
should disable this package for uClibc + mips. Is useless to always have
an autobuild failure that you already know where the problem is but you
are not going to fix it. FIx it or disable that package. This autobuild
failure is just more nonsense flood.

After compiling libgcrypt with -fPIC, the error has changed to this one:

/home/test/test/3/output/host/opt/ext-toolchain/bin/../lib/gcc/mips-linux-gnu/4.7.3/../../../../mips-linux-gnu/bin/ld:
./.libs/libunzip.a(unzip.o): relocation R_MIPS_26 against `a local
symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC

I don't know if this is an improvement or not, and I don't know what to
do next :/

Maybe someone else has more ideas.
