Again the udev/kms issue:

 Turn on verbose messaging (-v) to ./configure to see the final report.

Peter (Seiderer), coud you have a look? We had patch
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/646264/ from Akihiko Odaki, but I
was not convinced. If you could double check and see what the proper
solution is, it would be good.

Unfortunately this fails for the same reason as any C++ application.
__emutls_get_address is defined in libgcc_s.so.1 and is LOCAL
instead of GLOBAL.
When we fix the C++ problem, we have a solution for alsa-libs and
cairo.

Argh, OK. So in fact, disabling C++ is not sufficient to get rid of all
issues :-/

Correct, but in this commit, you forgot to propagate to clapack's
reverse dependencies, namely the armadillo package, and therefore
clapack could still be selected (which was the case in this
configuration.

It's not really an Xtensa issue. The problem can be solved trivially by
adding another !defined(__xtensa__) condition, but I was trying to
implement a better solution in the Waf script.

Alistair, Thomas, All,

Yes, just add (host-python is python2; host-python3 is, well, python3):

    XEN_DEPENDENCIES = host-python

Then it depends.

If Xen can be told what python to use, then that's easy (e.g.:
--with-python=python2 or whatever else...)

However, if you can't tell Xen what python to use, then this is a bit
more involved.

See how it was solved for example for qt5webkit:

    package/qt5webkit: needs host-python

    The Qt5Webkit build system hard-codes calls to 'python', but only really
    supports python2.

    We fix that similarly as we did in nodejs, by adding a python->python2
    symlink early in the PATH when configuring/building Qt5Webkit, and
    adding host-python in the dependency list.

    [--SNIP--]

This is commit ac16793eaaabfced0312420759e3a66cdaa1ea8e and you can get
some inspiration from it.

Thomas, we now have a few packages that need this hack. Should we try to
move those hacks into the pkg infra (obviously not for 2016.08)?

Cordialement,
Yann E. MORIN.

Please try to find a solution like this: environment variable,
configuration option, etc. If it doesn't exist, please add it.

I really *hate* this solution, and I will actively discourage anyone to
use it.

As far as I know there are only two such packages today, so clearly not
enough to move those hacks to the pkg infra.

Plus moving this to the pkg infra is making the usage of this hack
easier, which is exactly the opposite of what I want. The more painful
it can be to use this hack, the better, as it will encourage people to
find real solutions.

Thanks for the help Yann. That was actually pretty straightforward :)

Luckily I didn't have to use this, I could set Python from the environment.

I sent a patch to fix this to the mailing list and a second patch to
update the Xen version.

Thanks,

Alistair

I'm not sure to understand the error.

Given http://autobuild.buildroot.net/results/c8a/c8a6001f437701ecc75f6c9252935645bda8a8c8/
here's why I did:

    buildroot$ git checkout eef80855f1b4533467e04c8e776f1e2f826e5090
    buildroot$ curl http://autobuild.buildroot.net/results/c8a/c8a6001f437701ecc75f6c9252935645bda8a8c8/config > .config
    buildroot$ make lldpd

And this works. What am I doing wrong the reproduce the issue?

Thanks,

        Vivien

I was not able to reproduce it either, and all build failures occur on
Peter's machine:
    http://autobuild.buildroot.org/?reason=lldpd-0.9.4

However, the libevent issue is nto the real issue. The config.log hints
at a much earlier issue:

    [--SNIP--]

On my machine, I got:

    configure:22887: checking for library containing res_init
    configure:22913: /home/ymorin/dev/buildroot/O/host/usr/bin/mips64el-ctng_n64-linux-gnu-gcc -std=gnu99 -o conftest -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64  -Os  -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64  conftest.c  >&5
    configure:22913: $? = 0
    configure:22930: result: none required

This is really weird...

I diff-ed the config.log from the build failure with mine, and I saw a
few differences.

Here's the procedure (libbsd is an implicit dependency, which was built
before lldpd in the autobuild failure, so I built it explicitly):

    $ wget -O .config 'http://autobuild.buildroot.net/results/c8a/c8a6001f437701ecc75f6c9252935645bda8a8c8/config'
    $ make O=/home/ymorin/dev/buildroot/O lldpd-depends libbsd
    $ make O=/home/ymorin/dev/buildroot/O lldpd-configure
    $ wget -O config.log.failed 'http://autobuild.buildroot.net/results/c8a6001f437701ecc75f6c9252935645bda8a8c8/lldpd-0.9.4/config.log'
    $ sed -r -i -e 's:/home/peko/autobuild/instance-2/output/:/home/ymorin/dev/buildroot/O/:g'
        # So that I get the same paths in both log files...
    $ diff -du config.log.failed /home/ymorin/dev/buildroot/O/build/lldpd-0.9.4/config.log

But I can't find any interesting hunk before that failure...

Regards,
Yann E. MORIN.

We must fix it, obviously. Yet, that does not eventually prevent the
configure to finish for me.

 Seems to me that it's because libbsd-overlay uses -isystem instead of -I, so it
doesn't get munged with the sysroot by pkgconf. Either pkgconf should learn to
deal with -isystem, or ... we have to hack libbsd-overlay.pc manually.

 BTW, lldpd should of course also encode this optional dependency on libbsd.

 Arnout

Exactly. Except that libbsd-overlay really wants to get before
/usr/include because it wants to provide overrides for standard headers.
Beark... :-(

> BTW, lldpd should of course also encode this optional dependency on libbsd.

We discussed with lldpd's author on IRC, and after his explanations it
looks better to simply disable use of libbsd in lldpd: it is only ever
used for a few functions that anyway have replacement in lldpd, and the
setproctitle() (which does what its names means).

setproctitle has not replacement, but is not a mandatory requirement, so
it can be disabled, which happens when libbsd is not enabled.

So, I'm doing a patch to just disable use of libbsd by lldpd.

Took a look at this and it doesn't seem to be consistently repeatable
( I have yet to see it fail). I went back and it looks like this
occasionally has popped up starting on 8/6 and 8/9 on the following
architectures.

mips - glibc, gcc5, linux headers 4.6

x86_64 - musl, gcc4.9, linux headers 4.7

I just kicked off builds again to repeat both failures. Hopefully I
can catch it soon!

Thanks
Matt

These two build failures occured on Andre's machine when it started
acting silly (the machine, not Andre! ;-) ).

The failures did not occur on other machines, and Andre's ainstance has
been restarted and does not seem be be acting weird any;ore.

So I'd say we should not investigate those two.

Yann E. MORIN.
