Hello Takashi,

Fourteen years ago you commited a patch in alsa-libs entitled "added
workaround for ppc64." and I am curious about it. What is this
workaround for? Is this still needed?

Currently it seems to be causing some issues on ppc64le (ABI v2) when
building this package, and we are reverting it downstream in order to
avoid FTBFS on alsa-libs:

https://github.com/alpinelinux/aports/pull/911

https://github.com/buildroot/buildroot/blob/master/package/alsa-lib/0005-remove-powerpc64-workaround.patch

Anyway, do you think it is still important?

Thank you,
Breno

It's a very old kludge, and I don't think it's needed for the recent
glibc.

Care to submit the patch to alsa-devel ML instead of link?
Then I can merge the fix.

thanks,

Takashi
