Hi,

currently I'm using the gst-fsl-plugins version 3.0.8 and I saw that in the meantime some network streaming related changes were added in the newer version of the gst-fsl-plugins.

I want to stay on Kernel 3.0.35-4.1.0, but I want to update the gst-fsl-plugins to a newer version. And there are also new versions of libfsl{codec, parser, vpuwrap} and the imx-lib.

Can someone tell me if it is possible to update the gst-fsl-plugins and libfsl{codec, parser, vpuwrap} without switching to Kernel 3.10.17-1.0.0 ??

The gstreamer plugins should work on the older kernel release. We do test legacy builds on mx53 and mx28 which use older kernel to verify that they are backward compatible.

If you do use vpu wrapper note that the vpu firmware was also updated in firmware-imx and should be backported.

what about imx6D/6Q? any test on them?
I'm considering backporting this to imx6Q 4.1.0 as well. is there any
release-notes/doc talking about the difference? want to make sure it's
worth the effort.

thanks,
xxiao

Just for my understanding. If I update to the following versions it should/could work with my 3.0.35-4.1.0 Kernel!?

firmware-imx 3.10.17-1.0.0
imx-lib 3.10.17-1.0.0
imx-vpu 3.10.17-1.0.0
libfslcodec 3.0.11
libfslparser 3.0.11
libfslvpuwrap 1.0.46
gst-fsl-plugins 3.0.11

The only concern I have is imx-lib on 3.0.35. There were new pxp headers added in 3.10 that might cause a build break in 3.0.35 for imx-test or imx-lib pxp component.

Your concern is correct. I tried to build the imx-lib against the 3.0.35-4.1.0 Kernel and I get the

pxp_lib.h:19:30: fatal error: linux/pxp_device.h: No such file or directory

The pxp_device.h header file is present in the 3.10.17 Kernel, but not in the 3.0.35 Kernel and there are some changes regarding PXP in the Freescale 3.10.17 Kernel tree.

Is there a workaround? Maybe applying the PXP changes in the 3.10.17 Kernel to the 2.0.35?  Or do I have to switch to Kernel 3.10.17 in the end?

You could compare imx-lib and see the changes you need. However bear
on mind 3.0.35 support is removed from meta-fsl-arm so the right move
is to go to 3.10.17.

Same issue here, the new imx-lib can't be built against 3.0.35 kernel. What
is PXP driver for? can we just disable it from imx-lib?

Please, next time do not top-post [1]. I know asking it is annoying,
and I´m still learning exactly how to master the quoting reply.

PXP driver is using, for imx6 only in imx6slevk (for 3rd party boards,
I´m not sure how/what)

So, if you´re using imx6Q, you have IPU not PXP.

I would only configure imx-lib to not build pxp in case it´s not a
imx6sl board/machine.

Lauren, do you know if there is a way to add a PLATFORM_mx6sl =
"IMX6SL" option in imx-lib recipe, or even some --disable-pxp?

Do not top post: Top posting is replying to a message on "top" of the
quoted text of the previous correspondence. This is highly unwanted in
mailing lists because it increases the size of the daily digests to be
sent out & is highly confusing and incoherent. By default, most email
clients top post. Please, remove the irrelevant part of the previous
communication(in case of more than a single correspondence) and use
bottom, interleaved posting.
