Curt / David,

Would it be of any help if you get a full spec of the motherboard, including
the schematics? I have access to that.

That way you don't need to take the server apart, and you can be sure that
the chip is used exactly for what purpose you would expect.

Kind regards,

Jan van Tiggelen

You may be able to find a picture of the motherboard online...

You also don't have to take a picture of the motherboard if you can
identify which is the hardware monitoring chip...

For example: you should be able to find the CPU. It will be close to
the Northbridge. There might be a southbridge / ATA controller on the
board. There will be very few other large chips. So just google all
the letters and numbers on each chip and you should be able to tell
what each does.

Post results here. :-)

David

Jan/David

Thanks! Man you guys are great.

I built this server so I am familiar with the MB but it sounds like Jan
has the answer.

I did try installing all the Winbond drivers one at a time but no luck.

OK, the question is out to MSI. I expect it to take up to about a day or 2
before we have the full answer.

Will post back to you in a personal message when I get the schematics.

Kind regards,

Jan van Tiggelen

How's that for Hi-Res. Couldn't use a flash and lighting was a bitch
(running server).

Well that explains it. In kernel 2.6.21 and I have 2.6.16.

If I'm reading things right that's not even a stable kernel yet. Any
chance of me being able to backport it to the 2.6.16 w83627ehf driver
for my use?

Looks like I'm slightly on the bleeding edge.

Hi Curt,

I have tested the w83627ehf.c file from 2.6.21-rc1 in kernels as old
as 2.6.17. I have a stock 2.6.16 kernel I could test the driver in,
but didn't expect anyone to need it. Is there any way you could
upgrade to 2.6.18? That kernel is pretty popular.

Hi Curt,

Based on the schematics I've sent you, it seems that there is some
miscomputation.

So right now I could suggest a different computation for:

compute in3 -@*(1+(232/10)), -@/(1+(232/10))

The calculation for the 5V is OK, but then again... in2 is not 5V. So
now I'm guessing in6 is 5V, so change your in2 labels and computation
to in6.

As a last challenge:
How are your system temps displayed? After all, they are connected
through thermal resistors on SYS_TMP and CPU_TMP.

Kind regards,

Jan van Tiggelen
