(By error I've already sent this message to the linux-kernel mailing 
list. Sorry for the double message.)

On Fujitsu Lifebook A512 pressing Fn+F6 or Fn+F7 the brightness doesn't 
change.

I tried the latest upstream kernel 3.15-rc8 but the hot keys still don't 
work.

WORKAROUND
Execute at a terminal:
for i in /sys/class/backlight/*; do echo $i;cat $i/brightness;cat 
$i/max_brightness;done

shows this output:
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0
1
100
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight
4882
4882

Create /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf to set the 
"intel_backlight" interface, which will make the brightness shortcuts 
Fn+F6 and Fn+F7 work:

In some ways the system is able to understand that I'm pressing 
Fn+F6/Fn+F7. The pop-up indicator (this one 
http://s1.postimg.org/dly8ordov/Brightness.png) is showing the 
brightness level adjustment. Unfortunately the brightness itself doesn't 
change.

Ah, OK, I think I have misunderstood you.
So you already have a workaround with a xorg.conf file and everything
works now, right? If that is the case, the only thing that needs to be
done is to add your system into the video module's DMI table so that the
acpi_video interface will not be created. This can be verified by adding
video.use_native_backlight=1 to kernel cmdline.

Yes, there’s already the xorg workaround which makes the brightness hot 
keys work. In any case I've collected all the hardware/software infos 
without any workaround, so to get informations related to the original 
system setup.

Good, just tried video.use_native_backlight=1 parameter and it works. It

Tried today the upstream kernel 3.16-rc2 and now the brightness shortcut 
"Fn+F6 Fn+F7" works out of the box without any workaround... great!

Just a question (sorry I'm not an expert, I don't know how these things 
work), will these changes also be made to the previous kernels like 3.13?

The Ubuntu Kernel Team will try to fix the downstream 3.13 kernel, 
therefore I've been asked to perform the reverse bisect in order to 
discover which patch has made the change in the 3.16rc1 kernel.

But.. in this case the patch should be already known. Please, could you 
show which patch (or group of patches) has fixed the problem?

If not possible.. don't worry! I will go through the reverse bisect.
It's just to speed up the whole process or at least get infos good to 
know in advance.
