hi,

i would like to help for the m68k arch.
Mainly, i am interested since i designed a m5307 custom board, and going
to design some other coldfire-based embedded solution.

Let me know if there is some job to do, where i can be useful.

Best regards,
Angelo Dureghello

And help fixing packages that don't build on m68k.

Here are some hints on how to get a working m68k Debian:

IIRC, Debian/m68k doesn't run on Coldfire m5307.

Oops, I missed that part. I thought he was talking about m68k
in general. Can ColdFire systems still be bought new?

Hi John Paul,

thanks,

well as Geert says, mcf5307 is no-mmu, i am developing some mcf54416
stuff now, so maybe in the near future i could contribute to Debian
too.

Well, afaik, about ColdFire cpu's, there is a product-life table in
Freescale (now NXP) for each model. Some older coldfire cpu's are
entering in the production "stop", even if you can still find them on
many resellers.
But the most recent as mcf5441x should have still 10 years of availability.

You could send patches for the linux kernel to support the
mcf54416. We have base support for v4e with and without MMU.
So patches to extend that to support the mcf54416 would be
great.

Greg
