This one was conflicting and did not get tested yet. I rebased it a minute ago and it will hopefully compile now. If you can run a rbd job that is relevant it will speedup backporting.

I created the backport and tried to cherry-pick but running into a conflict that is caused (I think) by the templatization

librbd: convert AioObjectRequest/AioObjectRead classes to templates

Should the templatization and all it entails be backported ? Or should the conflict be resolved by adapting the code to the non template jewel form ?

It's certainly time for another point release (the last one was mid- 
June).  I think it can wait another couple days though to get all/most of 
the issues people have called out in too?

Almost all pull requests requested for 10.2.3 are merged except this one. There is a backport at https://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/10804 . It will need testing and it may take some time. 

@Kefu Is there a job we can run to verify it does the right thing in jewel ?

we do exercise "ceph osd pause" in workunit/cephtool[1], but we don't thrash
osds in the test suite[2] that testing this command.

@Sam, how about adding "ceph osd {pause,unpause}" calls to Thrasher in ceph_manager.py,
so the thrashosd tests can test it as well?

We'd like to also see http://tracker.ceph.com/issues/16255 included if
possible, as it currently blocks upgrades to Jewel for existing
installations.
