Subject: [SPDK] SPDK-DPDK joint efforts

Hi all,

What's the progress with the SPDK-DPDK joint efforts for:
1. Patch in DPDK Crypto

PL> For everyone else's benefit, we have a patch on our fork that we also submitted to DPDK that enables our use of crypto with AESNI-MB, thus right now if you want to use that PMD you have to use our fork. The upstream patch is in 19.05 as soon as that's released we'll go through the normal process of updating our fork and resolving any differences between patches we were carrying and those that landed in the official release.

2. DPDK AES-XTS for QAT

PL> I believe this is currently available in DPDK, it had a requirement to use a later version of ipsec than what we had in our fork but we updated to the latest as part of our 19.04 release for other reasons so the only thing stopping this from happening is someone wanting to sign up to do the SPDK work :)

Are there any other joint projects underway?

PL> I'm not sure' I'd call these "joint projects", there's always some level of collaboration between the two groups. The XTS thing, for example, is not a joint thing, they added it to DPDK and independently we can decide if/when/ever we want to add support for it in SPDK. For the patch, there are a few of those every time that manage themselves as part of updating our fork. I'm not aware of any though that we're trying to push upstream that are blocked though.

Best regards,
Vladimir Plichko
