Hi Peter,

I tried installing buildroot on a fresh machine but got the same error
so I don't think it's my machine.

I did a new git clone and then git checkout of this commit:
473a91dbe660cd7b0e56b4afc18121da52c89492 now Qt builds. There are about
a dozen qt specific commits that follow the one above, when I get some
time later this week I'll try to find which change caused the problem.

Regards.

If I undo this change:

commit: 03bdf67f438ad66a652e860474fc65b9342656f2
Tested with 4.5.2.

qt builds. It seems that the x86 fix is still required and still seems
to be required with 4.5.3.

Nokia released 4.6.0 this week. Would be nice to test with that too.

Hello!
I clone git repo from 1/01 but have same error. Is this bug still
reproducible?

Yes. I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.

Find this line in the .../package/qt/qt-4.5.3.mk file:

  BR2_PACKAGE_QT_EMB_PLATFORM:=$(call qstrip,$(BR2_PACKAGE_QT_EMB_PLATFORM))

and then add the following lines:

  # x86x86fix
  # Workaround Qt Embedded bug when crosscompiling for x86 under x86 with linux
  # host. It's unclear if this would happen on other hosts.
  ifneq ($(findstring pc-linux,$(BR2_GNU_BUILD_SUFFIX)),)
  ifeq ($(BR2_PACKAGE_QT_EMB_PLATFORM),x86)
  QT_CONFIGURE+= -platform linux-g++
  QT_CONFIGURE:=$(call qstrip,$(QT_CONFIGURE))
  endif
  endif
  # End of workaround.

When I get back to working on Buildroot I'll send in a patch.

Regards.

Besides,
I don't how would be better do it but if I compile target with x86_64 then
your patch fails too
I replace x86 -> x86_64 but maybe you know how do this right?

Ok, I'll test for x86_64 also in my patch.

Thanks.
