Hi all,

Seeing the "it's still alive" thread (Hi Geert!), there were concerns
about the loss of the mailing list archive.

I've got my archive of it back through 2007/Apr/11, and if other people
have a matching copy to line up with it, and possibly further back, I
believe we can re-populate it and put it online with a moved website.

Gentoo has used mlmmj for more than a decade, and would be happy to
ensure it continues running.

I could provide a Maildir with the messages since 18 Feb 2012.

Ah, just had a look, 2004-05-19 until today:
        https://marc.info/?l=mlmmj

I've once reported a problem to Hank Leininger, see
https://marc.info/?q«out

He was very friendly. I'd see some chance to get help from him to get
the messages from marc.info, when rebuilding the archive.

mlmmj is in active use here, too. AFAIR the OpenSMTPd mailinglist ist
run by mlmmj, too.

Why not just let MARC handle the list archives? We can link to them.

MARC + 1 alternate site, in case MARC has a large outage again.

I don't like promoting my own work...
Anyways, I try to keep public-inbox easy-to-install by only
depending on stuff packaged on GNU and *BSD systems. Thus,
anybody should be able to host their own instance (and mirror
existing instances via "git clone --mirror")

	https://public-inbox.org/INSTALL.html
	https://public-inbox.org/README.html
	https://public-inbox.org/flow.html

(and meta@public-inbox.org uses mlmmj for replaying archives
to readers who don't use NNTP, IMAP or Atom feeds).

Everything is designed for older hardware and those with poor
Internet connections, even the web "design" :)

That's too bad, because it needs more promotion. It's an excellent
solution for list archival. I'm especially fond of the built-in NNTP
support.

It's a natural fit for mlmmj. +1 for public-inbox.
