We are building for ARM as well, using gcc 4.3.2, uclibc-0.9.30, wchar,
largefile, !ipv6.

alsa-lib builds for me. Yesterday we updated to version 1.0.19, the
latest stable release, and that version also compiles nicely. Perhaps
you might want to try that update in buildroot?

Thanks, but why? Please use the default versions as that's what we're
releasing with and what new users will use.
E.G. binutils 2.29, uclibc 0.9.30, gcc 4.3.2
Could you rerun it with proper toolchain settings? Thanks.

Only if we cannot get 1.0.18 building without too much effort. After
the release we should certainly move to 1.0.19 ofcourse.

This works for me with gcc-4.3.2, binutils-2.19, uclibc-0.9.30 with
wchar, largefile, ipv6 and softfloat with a buildroot snapshot from
20090105.
I can try svn or some other snap, though i don't think things changed
that much so as to break them.
Regards.

Can you send your ".config" to my email address?
Since I am not running a straight "make" (using scripts/buildall.sh),
this can cause some extra problems.

I have seen compiler errors with this combination,
so I want to build with several toolchain versions,
but it is in the plan.
I have seen some compiler problems with my combination
as well...

Ok, but if we're releasing with that combination (and we should), then
that's the one we should be spending our time on getting stable, not
some other combination with other problems.

Again, it would be neat to have such a list with the toolchain config
that really matters.
Ulf> nmk valgrind DISABLED x86 specific

How is that an error?

I have recently built that on armv4l without problems.

That sounds unlikely - Do you have a build log?

Most of the packages I have been working on has had
inherent problems which are not compiler related.
My priority is solving these problems.
Anything else I am prepared to wait with
until I have all the important packages
building with the toolchain mentioned above
or at least understand why they break.
If I have this working, then doing the same with
the release toolchain is just letting the PC
chew for a day.
Changing to Makefile.autotools.in is not hard,
just takes a lot of time.
I am running tests in parallel with the release toolchain
but results have been poor so far.
Boards that build without problems with 4.2.4
break on 4.3.2.
Here is the same with the 4.3.2/bu-2.19/uclib-0.9.30

> that really matters.
You have it now, and it is easy to generate.
"scripts/buildall.sh" will do it for you
by running "scripts/mkpkg" on all listed packages
Calling it "buildall" is not 100% correct,
since a few packages are not built.
database and qtopia, X windows related packages
are notable exceptions as well as java and games.
The comments after OK/FAIL etc, are manually added.
buildall.sh creates the log directory and
then the log/OK and log/FAIL.
log/FAIL contains one log file per built package.

Ask the compiler writer, I was also confused, but that is
maybe appropriate for a package named "libconfuse" ;-)
There is a comment just before the "error".
"cc1: warnings being treated as errors" so the maintainer
wants to make dead sure that the lexer.c is real clean.

No, I just did an ls of package to start with, and never bothered to
update, There is a significant number of packages that does not build
so until I run out of FAILs, this just adds compile time.
Feel free to add package

Since I am not running a regular make, problems could occur,
If the dependencies in the Makefile are incomplete.
The make maybe runs in the correct order for other reasons.

Have build logs for everything.
For the release toochain, the mpg123 build
aborts with a segmentation fault.

Ok, so that should be easy to fix.

It dies on:
ln -s ../usr/include/directfb \
/home/ulf/projects/Buildroot/20090121/buildroot/build_arm/staging_dir/include/directfb
because the link already exists.
This only happens if directfb is enabled for SDL.

If you have multi enabled, then there is a dependency on linux-fusion,
which in it's turn depends on the linux kernel.
Since the linux kernel is using uImage, there is a dependency on u-boot.
In the configuration, u-boot-2008.10 is used but this is broken
for at91 boards in buildroot, since they use
make at91sam9260ek_dataflash_config or similar,
which is a recent change.
u-boot-2008.10 requires
?make at91sam9260ek_config
The fix is to enable 2009.01-rc3.
2009.01 will be available later this week.
Either we upgrade or make -rc3 the default for AT91 boards
in the release.

>
> Ulf> mk u-boot FAIL ""
>
There has been some changes for AT91 circuits
and the setup only works for 1.2.0-atmel or
2009.01-rc3, not the default 2008.10.
If u-boot does not build, then linux does not build,
and then if you have "multi" enabled
