Hi,
Anybody knows where I can find Xen 4.0 in debian packages, so I can
easily install Xen on my Ubuntu (without having to compile them)?
I searched around, but only found older deb packages.
Thanks,
J

Packages can be found in debian experimental. Please see here
http://packages.debian.org/experimental/xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64 and
http://packages.debian.org/experimental/xen-hypervisor-4.0-i386

I think Debian packages don't include HVM support.. blktap2 is also missing.
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong..

I tried the 32bit version on both Ubuntu 10.04 and Debian Lenny, and
neither works: it says xen-utils-4.0 is broken.
thanks,

your package only includes the qemu-dm, so clearly that doesnt work.

in that case you should flood the list with repeated calls for help.
never be shy about that ;-)

Seeing that that I got a reply in less than 24 hours when sending to the question to each individual, I can only agree. In such busy list it's hard to get through with the noise.

@Thomas GoirandI look forward to testing out your HVM support after you submit your package into the Debian repositories :)
By adding qemu-dm support, will users be able to use stubdom-hvms? Also does your package address "blktap2" as Pasi pointed out may be missing?

Hi,
I am supposed to be doing the package for the HVM, but unfortunately, I
didn't receive the support from this list when I asked about it. However,
you can find it here:
http://ftparchive.gplhost.com/debian/pool/lenny/main/x/xen-qemu-dm-3.4/
and here:
http://ftparchive.gplhost.com/debian/pool/lenny/main/x/xen-qemu-dm-4.0/
your package only includes the qemu-dm, so clearly that doesnt work.
I never wrote that you need ONLY this, of course, you ALSO need the
dom0 pv_ops
kernel and the hypervisor, my package only adds HVM (qemu-dm) support.

Actually blktap2 module is available in kernel. Blktap tools are
missing due to openssl license issues.

AFAIK blktap2 can be compiled against libgcrypt, see
tools/blktap2/drivers/Makefile:30
ifeq ($(CONFIG_Linux),y)
ifeq ($(shell . ./check_gcrypt $(CC)),yes)
CFLAGS += -DUSE_GCRYPT
CRYPT_LIB += -lgcrypt
else
CRYPT_LIB += -lcrypto
$(warning === libgcrypt not installed: falling back to libcrypto ===)
endif
else
CRYPT_LIB += -lcrypto
endif
just make sure ifeq ($(shell . ./check_gcrypt $(CC)),yes) succeed on
your system.
In any case ssl is only used to calculate MD5, I'll post another
implementation that doesn't need any library.

that explains it.
In any case I have already sent a patch to get rid of gcrypt/ssl
altogether.
