Dear list,

I use a Atheros HTC USB Wireless Device TL-WN721N with 9271. This is
basically a very new devices which received a lot of positive reviews.
And linux people keep insisting that Atheros are one of the better Wifi
choices to make on linux. But I'm not getting anywhere this device!

I'm on the latest mainline with the newest firmware and the bleeding edge
WiFi drivers and I get *frequent* connection losses and slow
re-associates - and sometimes I associate but it takes minutes for
routes to come up. This hasn't changed since day 1 I installed the
device and went on for months.

Virtually every internet page that has more than a "light textual"
content renders the connection unusable. If I just leave it like that it
takes a long time to get back on, usually I restart the interface which
helps it reassociating a little quicker.

As soon as there are several concurrent connections or just a moderate
load on the device the connection fails, dmesg leaves me with nothing
but:

ieee80211 phy0: wlan0: No probe response from AP XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX after 500ms, disconnecting.
cfg80211: Calling CRDA for country: CN
wlan0: authenticate with XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX (try 1)
wlan0: authenticated
wlan0: associate with XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX (try 1)
wlan0: RX AssocResp from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX (capab=0x431 status=0 aid=1)
wlan0: associated

I'm getting a little desperate over this as it'S really frustrating.

Thanks for your help

Is there some more information that I can gather in order to resolve
this issue? Note that disabling power management is not a sufficient
workaround for me, but it makes the error much less frequent.

http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14267#c55

#56 has a full debug log of the failure attached. I realize that
stuff going on _before_ the failure is more interesting but to my
untrained eye it looked quite like when things were working ok.

How often should there be a beacon? Ie. what's the beacon loss timer?

Thanks

//Peter
