Hi,

Is there any estimation to when will the multi-function PT patches of Simon
Horman be committed to xen unstable tree?

Tom

The qemu patches need to be accepted by Ian Jackson first, into the qemu
tree. Then I can consider taking the partnering xen-unstable patches and
update xen-unstable's QEMU_TAG. There's probably no rerason not to get the
patches checked in over the next few days.

At the last posting by Simon, those patches were marked `rfc'. That
is, Request for Comments. So we haven't applied them. Also, there
weren't any comments on the last round (about a week ago).

Simon (and everyone else): will there be (or should there be) a
revised final version ? Or does silence mean assent and everyone is
happy to see them applied as-is ? Most of the changes are to xend
which we're quite lax about so there's no reason from our end for us
to wait I think.

Ian.

Hi all,

not long after posting the last round of patches I went on holidays
for two weeks. Good for me. Not so good for the code.

I'm not entirely sure how to proceed with the patches,
as although they were marked as rfc, there hasn't really been
any discussion (that I have seen anyway).

What I propose doing is up-porting the changes to the latest
xen-unstable.hg - I assume there have been some changes since
I posted a few weeks ago - and reposting with a view to having
the patches merged by Ian and Keir. I think that the changes
are up to a standard where they can be included in unstable -
especially as no one has voiced any objections to them.

On a related note. I have prepared a back-port of the
various pass-through changes that are present in the unstable
tree to the 3.4-testing tree. On top of this I have back-ported
the multi-function changes. I hope to have this finished very soon
and will send an email to xen-devel once it is ready.

I'll be reluctant to apply large piles of that stuff to 3.4 branch.
Particularly where it affects the interface to qemu.

I wasn't really sure you would be interested in applying piles of stuff to
3.4. But several people have expressed interest, so it seemed to be worth
making the back-port anyway :-)

Perhaps it would be worth maintaining it as an unofficial tree.
Do you have facilities for publishing your backport as a hg tree ?
Alternatively I can set you up with space on xenbits.

Ian.

Hi Ian,

thats pretty much what I have done. The hg bit is on my server
and the git bit is on github - only because it was easier that way.
Depending on how useful it is I'm happy to consider maintaining it
and moving it over to xenbits.
