Hi All,

My laptop's wireless adaptor is Atheros ar9285, does the latest ath9k driver support the Wi-Fi Direct ?
If does, how to make it work?

Any information is appreciated!
Thanks!

Dear all,

I also have the same question. Is there any information on when and how the
ath9k support for WiFi Direct will come along? Also can anyone comment on
the relationship of WiFi Direct with the linux P2P?

Thanks,
Arash

Thanks Mohammad, I think that WiFi Direct is getting quite a bit of
attraction and will be important for ath9k to get to support it. Realtek
drivers are already supporting this feature...

This is a very small part of Wi-Fi Direct, i.e., the component where an
AP can advertise rules for P2P use cases (mainly, to disallow cross
connection of the P2P group with the network the AP is providing).

The main implementation of Wi-Fi Direct management operations is in
wpa_supplicant and that can be used with ath9k. The main missing
functionality in ath9k is the new power saving mechanisms defined in the
P2P specification.

had been such a fool to not know Wi-Fi direct is p2p, Wi-Fi direct is
well supported in ath9k(except power save as Jouni mentioned).
we are also running regression tests to fix the latest issues. we
should be supporting more to coexist with other features!
