please look at the previous threads on the mailinglist about this
topic - the short answer is no - your linux distributions should be
tuning these settings. PowerTOP is a diagnostics tool, and it is not
the right place to set power bits permanently in the system.

Hi,

Obviously powertop is not meant to be an automatic tool to tune the power
settings for you. :) From the information gathered with powertop, you can
try tools like laptop-mode-tools or other dbus hooks available in the
distro you use and see what's missing.

Hi all,

powertop is a great tool, and I love it. However, there is a place I
would like to know if it can be improved or done. When the AC power is
off, I always have to turn on those tunable options shown in powertop
to save power. Is it possible to make powertop do that automatically
for me?

  T.I.A.

Regards,
chenwj
