Hi All,

I'm tryin to build a linux image by using openembedded classic. On giving
the bitbake command I'm getting the following errors.

failed to load "./apple-red.png": Couldn't recognize the image file format
for file './apple-red.png'

ERROR: Function 'do_compile' failed (see
/home/hc/oe/output/work/i686-linux/gtk+-native-2.24.8-r1/temp/log.do_compile.11738
for further information)
ERROR: Task 6157 (virtual:native:/home/hc/oe/stuff/trdx/recipes/gtk+/gtk+_
2.24.8.bb, do_compile) failed with exit code '1'
ERROR: '/home/hc/oe/stuff/openembedded/recipes/eglibc/eglibc_2.12.bb' failed
ERROR:
'virtual:native:/home/hc/oe/stuff/openembedded/recipes/gobject-introspection/
gobject-introspection_1.29.17.bb' failed
ERROR: 'virtual:native:/home/hc/oe/stuff/trdx/recipes/gtk+/gtk+_2.24.8.bb'
failed

I'm a newbie to this openembedded stuffs..
Please guide me to solve this issue.

Is there a reason you are using OE Classic? If not, then transfer to the
new OpenEmbedded, OE Classic has been EOL for a long time now.

Hi Jack Mitchell,

Thanks for your reply..

openembedded-core is what you are referring as new openembedded. right?

I'm trying to build a linux image version which could be done only using
openembedded-classic.. And these errors i'm stuck on with are dealing with
gtk+ installation and versions.. I could figure out what I'm doing wrong..
Can I get your help here please ???

And please refer me how to get started with new oipenembedded.. I'll have a
go at it..

I dont want to use that classic thing and get extinct..

I'll go with openembedded-core as you say..

I followed the steps for oe-core given in this link
http://developer.toradex.com/software-resources/arm-family/linux/source-code/linux-%28colibri-t20%29-openembedded

And I'm getting the following errors

ERROR: There is a confusing multiline, partially commented expression on
line 45 of file /home/hc/oe-core/build/../stuff/meta-toradex/recipes/images/
angstrom-lxde-image.bb ().
Please clarify whether this is all a comment or should be parsed.
ERROR: Unable to parse
/home/hc/oe-core/build/../stuff/meta-toradex/recipes/images/
angstrom-lxde-image.bb: Exited with "1"
ERROR: Command execution failed: Exited with 1

Bare with me please.. I'm blind here..

Did you use the correct revisions of each git repository as stated on
the wiki page? I believe the error you are seeing is an issue with the
meta-toradex layer, bitbake has become more picky recently with proper
commenting.

The problem is that the version of bitbake being used when meta-toradex
was created was older than the one you are using, and as such not as strict.

This means that there is a confusing multiline comment on line 45.
This normally means this:

# this is a comment \

The trailing slash is ambiguous, so remove it.

Yes, you are right.. I removed those trailing slashes and now it throws me
new set of errors.. It was giving errors in RDEPENDS..
As suggested in wiki I replaced RDEPENDS with RRECOMMENDS in my
obconf_2.0.3+git.bb. But i'm getting the following list of errors.

ERROR: QA Issue:

I think I'm getting nearer... I appreciate the support you offered till
now..

I cleaned the bitbake and rebuilt it. Now RRECOMMENDS error is not there..

These are the errors I'm dealing with now..

And this is what I have in wpa-supplicant_2.0.bb file.

In the last week or so oe-core was changed to warn if you specify
RDEPENDS or RRECOMMENDS without a package identifier. For example,
this is wrong:

RRECOMMENDS = "foo"

But this is right:

RRECOMMENDS_obconf = "foo"

That error message describes the problem quite well. You appear to be
mixing very recent oe-core with an older meta-systemd, which won't
work as they are both undergoing heavy systemd changes at the moment.
If you update both at the same time you might get something that
works.

Welcome to the joy of building against git master of multiple
repositories - things break. Unless you're capable of fixing the
problems as you find them it's recommended to use the stable releases
instead of git master.

Ross

Or as I mentioned above, use the git commits that the meta-toradex wiki
pages recommends.

Just actually looked at that page. It's almost like their writing a

Following the instructions on
http://developer.toradex.com/software-resources/arm-family/linux/source-code/linux-%28colibri-t20%29-openembedded
will go a long way to helping - at the moment you're building the
wrong pieces.

You're not using the oe-core revision specified on the web site. You
need to checkout a specific revision, and not use oe-core master.

Hi,

I need to run my wxwidget application on the colibri module with the linux
image built using openembedded. For that I need wxwidgets library in the
colibri module.
Is it possible ?? If so, how can I do it ??

Please give your suggestions..
Thanks in advance

You need to port the recipe over from OE-classic, should be relatively
simple. The classic recipes are here
http://git.openembedded.org/openembedded/tree/recipes/wxwidgets

and please do not top post. reply inline so the context of threads
are kept intact.

FYI also there is some information on what you'll need to do for porting:

http://www.openembedded.org/wiki/Migrating_metadata_to_OE-Core

Cheers,
