Are you part of the project community? Do you know the plans for Snort 2?

I know Snort 3 has been in development for a while, but Snort 2 is still
the official version according to the downloads page:

I'm not a developer on snort. I am just involved to use this project.
I have read the docs for several days. Very little experience on that.

Being a new comer, I think Sont3 has a more friendly doc than version 2.
