Hello,
Some details:
I have Freescale Sabre SD board on iMX6q processor.

I use the master-next branch and fsl-image-multimedia-full.

So my problem is that after "repo sync" on last friday I cannot boot the system from the resulting image from my SD-card.
I have written the image by this command "sudo dd if=fsl-image-multimedia-full-imx6qsabresd.sdcard of=/dev/sdb bs=4M &&sync"
There are two lines in boot log:
*******************************************************************
No filesystem could mount root, tried:  ext3 ext2 ext4 vfat fuseblk
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179,10)
*******************************************************************
I attached the full log.
Please help!
Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Konstantin.

Seems to be an issue with your uSD card or the card reader.

Dear Otavio,
Thanks for your quick response! After some attempts I have found the solution. The problem was in the variable "mmcroot". I've just changed the default value "mmcblk1p2" to "mmcblk0p2" and it works. However, the system stops booting on request "imx6qsabresd login:" and doesn't response on keyboard, touchscreen, and mouse. Unfortunately, my adb console doesn't show any errors on that stage. Probably I did not solve all errors in my u-boot default variables. This is my u-boot environments:

Dear Otavio,
Sorry for delay. I was outside of my office... So, I have the same issue with this image you wrote about. I mean this "mmcroot=/dev/mmcblk1p2 rootwait rw"
After it was changed to "mmcblk0p2" the system has started to boot. However, it stoped again on this stage:
**************************************************
Starting syslogd/klogd: done
 * Starting Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Daemon: avahi-daemon
**************************************************
My board is out of network but I am certain that system should continue booting even in that case. So, I guess that there is a problem in "master" branch.
Any ideas?

P.S. Full boot log in attachment.

Best Regards,
Konstantin.

Dear Otavio,
It seems funny but after I saved the u-boot environment and restarted the board few times the system stopped on this stage:
******************************************
Running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local).

Poky (Yocto Project Reference Distro) 1.6+snapshot-20140721 imx6qsabresd /dev/ttymxc0

imx6qsabresd login:
******************************************
Now I am completely confused. The system doesn't respond on any input (mouse, keyboard, touchscreen) and I can't see anything on the display.
New boot log is attached because of some differences in comparing with the old one.
So, I really need help!

Best Regards,
Konstantin.

Dear Otavio,
Sorry for delay. I was outside of my office... So, I have the same issue with this image you wrote about. I mean this "mmcroot=/dev/mmcblk1p2 rootwait rw"
After it was changed to "mmcblk0p2" the system has started to boot. However, it stoped again on this stage:
**************************************************
Starting syslogd/klogd: done
* Starting Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Daemon: avahi-daemon
**************************************************
My board is out of network but I am certain that system should continue booting even in that case. So, I guess that there is a problem in "master" branch.
Any ideas?

P.S. Full boot log in attachment.

Best Regards,
Konstantin.

I tried the same pre-built image over here and after changing from:

mmcroot=/dev/mmcblk1p2

to

mmcroot=/dev/mmcblk0p2

I have it working fine.

Dear Daiane,
I really glad to hear this. Perhaps you could add your boot log so that I could compare it with mine. I guess that it can help me somehow.
Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Konstantin.

I sent an u-boot-fslc update which should address this issue. Can you
test master-next or apply it and test?

Today I have done "repo sync" and rebuilt my image but it stopped on "login:" again. So, my issue is still existing. Moreover, I faced this "mmcblk1p2" problem. It seems that I should rebuild my image completely (including kernel). So, how can I do this properly? ("-c cleanall -f" doesn't allow me to do that).

Best Regards,
Konstantin.

I did not understand your question. If you have "repo sync"-ed and the
fix is downloaded, YP will rebuild anything needed.

If you want to make sure twice, bitbake virtual/kernel -c cleansstate
and bitbake u-boot-fslc -c cleansstate

I still can *not* reproduce the issue. For me, it works, it reaches
the prompt I can login and I can find / until the end. And I still
have the board control.

I have tested with imx6Q TO1.1 and TO 1.2

And, I tested with imx6slevk as well, and it´s working.

I reproduced the freeze issue using imx6qsabresd and X11!

So, it´s x11 startup error.

Do you see the freeze if you use 'imx6q-sabresd-ldo,dtb' instead?

Dear Daiane,
It is a good news that I am not alone with this issue! As I mentioned in my first message I use "fsl-image-multimedia-full". Moreover, the X11 is really needed for "linphone+Xvideo". So, I can not do without it. What is worse is that my board doesn't show me any errors in X11 it just freezes. So, now, thanks to your message, I understand the causes of the freeze and I can continue trying to find a solution. Thank you for that again.

Best Regards,
Konstantin.

I just tested -ldo and it worked.

Yes, I can confirm that it works. The solution is just change "fdt_file=imx6q-sabresd.dtb" to "fdt_file=imx6q-sabresd-ldo.dtb".  Thanks to all!

Best Regards,
Konstantin.

Not really a solution but a workaround.

The U-Boot 2014.07 provides the PMIC driving support so this shouldn't
be need. Fabio, any tip on this?

Yes, it does have PMIC support, but it still lacks ldo bypass support.

So we ought to keep using -ldo for now?

I forward-ported the corresponding patch from 2014.01 to 2014.07 and
updated master.

It should be fine now.
