The problems you report are known, I even had patches for it.

Since 2.4 is unmaintained, Pablo does not care.

I guessed it.  Fortunately it is not too complicated to fix it, it just
takes some time.

So I would have appreciated a note  ( and maybe a link ) somewhere.
Just to have known issues documented.
