Do you see: "ACPI: Could not use ECDT", or do you not have full ACPI
compiled into the kernel?

I have patched with acpi-20021022-2.4.20-pre11.diff.gz with no errors.
Yes this also appears at boot:
ACPI: Found ECDT
ACPI: Could not use ECDT
