Hi,

I have a VAR-SOM-AM43 Development Kit and I am following the instruction on the Variscite Wiki: VarWiki<http://variwiki.com/index.php?title=VAR-SOM-AM43_Yocto_Krogoth_GS>

Upon executing the following script:

MACHINE=varsomam43 bitbake tisdk-rootfs-image

I receive the following error:

caruban@SolarCrucible:~/yocto_varsomam43/tisdk/build$ . conf/setenv
caruban@SolarCrucible:~/yocto_varsomam43/tisdk/build$ export PATH=/opt/gcc-linaro-5.3.1-2016.05-x86_64_arm-linux-gnueabihf/bin:$PATH
caruban@SolarCrucible:~/yocto_varsomam43/tisdk/build$ MACHINE=varsomam43 bitbake tisdk-rootfs-image

It seems that a command is outdated with the current system I am using. I am running a Linux 18.04 LTS on the host PC.

Is there any way to fix this?

Kind regards,

Shoaib

You're using krogoth and that is an old release (and now unsupported).
You'd need to use an older operating system to build it, either
directly or in a container/VM.

Cheers,

Richard

perf uses kernel sources to build and its perhaps related to BSP
kernel you are using to build the image
that it might need certain tweaks to compile perf, it seems it asking
for using python2 so perhaps you can inherit pythonnative in the perf
recipe and that might help

[-- Attachment #1.1: Type: text/plain, Size: 469 bytes --]

Hi,

I'm trying to build yocto project ZEUS for imx8m mini.

I have this configuration EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES= “ ssh-server-openssh
tools-sdk tools-debug dbg-pkgs dev-pkgs doc-pkgs package-management
tools-profile” in my build/conf/local.con file.

But it reports error when executing *bitbake core-image-base*.
Host environment: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS

Can any one explain how to resolve this?

The error log is below.

Thanks, best regards

Iñigo.

Hi,

I'm trying to build yocto project ZEUS for imx8m mini.

I have this configuration EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES= “ ssh-server-openssh
tools-sdk tools-debug dbg-pkgs dev-pkgs doc-pkgs package-management
tools-profile” in my build/conf/local.con file.

But it reports error when executing *bitbake core-image-base*.
Host environment: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS

Can any one explain how to resolve this?

The error log is below.

Thanks, best regards

Iñigo.

It seems as though the build system is unable to create this directory:

/home/b/yocto-krogoth/../../yocto/downloads//uninative/acf1e44a0ac2e855e81da6426197d36358bf7b4e88e552ef933128498c8910f8

You probably have a permission problem there, working from /home/b but
attempting to create /home/yocto.

No. As I said, I've been using this machine (for years), always with the
same processes, and never a problem until today.

Time to rebuild the machine from scratch

Fair enough (and indeed the sanity check would have been skipped since that
tree was initially built on 2014-11-21). Too bad errors (like this) couldn't
be trapped a bit higher up to indicate what really failed, as opposed to a
lengthy stack trace which isn't very useful, at least not to those not totally
familiar with the code.

Thanks again

Hmm, that doesn't sound good.

Just as a check, you didn't by any chance try to use the subpath= option with
a value that has a trailing '/' using an older version of bitbake did you?

> BTW, how did you come to the conclusion about chrpath?

According to the stack trace the error happened in a part of the code that
uses chrpath to adjust the rpath in binaries, and I know that
subprocess.Popen() will raise "No such file or directory" exception if it can't
find the chrpath binary. We do have a check to ensure chrpath is installed as
part of the sanity tests at startup - except IIRC if that check has been run
before it won't be run again unless you delete build/conf/sanity_info.

Cheers,
Paul

Yes (or at least I USED TO!)

I've done some more digging and it seems that this build machine (where this
error happened) has been totally eaten (corrupted) :-( My home directory
(and who knows what else?) is empty. I'm going to blame it on my attempt
to try out OpenWRT builds on this box (not my choice - customers seem to
always get in the way)

Sorry for the noise - I'll go back to trying to repair my build machine now

BTW, how did you come to the conclusion about chrpath?

Thanks for the help

I believe this code is trying to run chrpath - do you have that installed on
the host where it's failing?

Sadly, I don't see enough info in this error trace to really tell me
what file/directory is missing (i.e. what the real problem is)

I tried 'bitbake quilt-native -c cleanstate', but the problem persists.
Note that this is a build in a older tree, one which I've been using successfully
(as you can tell) since late 2014.

Interestingly, I can build using the same meta-data on a different build
box!

I get the same error when using a totally fresh tree, so I'm really
perplexed by this one...

Looks like the most recent commit in meta-qt5 master might fix your problem:

commit adeaa6128b665920eb98eb7c064f4aacbd74b873
Author: Tobias Olausson <tobias.olausson@pelagicore.com>
Date: Thu Jan 15 15:48:39 2015 +0100

    qt3d: change to 'dev' branch

The master branch of qt3d has been removed by the Qt project, and
the commit pointed to by the SRCREV is now in the 'dev' branch.

It should be:

not

SRC_URI=file:///home/qoriq/linux-qoriq-sdk.tar.gz

and yeah, no HTML please.

This email probably belongs on the Yocto list since it's more user-oriented.

Anyway, I just ran this same scenario with no problems on the master branch.
You might try that.

One thing that might be different - I used the Yocto toolchain package from
   http://downloads.yoctoproject.org/releases/yocto/yocto-1.5/toolchain/
to get the right version of make, etc. That also might help you.

I wonder why you are using gentoo which is not validated for Yocto? Ubuntu
and Fedora are much friendlier and are known to work.

I wouldn't wish that (gentoo) on my worst enemy, let alone a Linux novice!

Hi

My target HW is a Wandboard-quad and I have followed this tutorial (
http://wiki.wandboard.org/index.php/Getting_started_with_Yocto_on_Wandboard
).

My host system is gentoo which isn't a validated system for yocto but if
someone can help me anyway I would be very happy.
I have downgraded make from 3.82 to 3.81 because I couldn't find a patch
for 3.82.

When I try to bitbake the 1.5 DORA branch it fails on eglibc(shlib.lds:150).

Here is the log: http://tny.cz/766db2d2

I work as a software developer but I have very little Linux experience.

I would be more worried about the "ssh://git@*savage-git*:10221" part.
Is that from a custom(ized) recipe?

There is a "git ls-rem!", maybe this is a typo?
