This patch series adds support Renesas R-Car S4-8 UFS controller.
This controller has some restrictions so adds some quirks for it.
Before using this driver, we have to initialize a clock generator
on the environment board (named "Spider") by using the commands of
U-Boot like below:
 => i2c dev 0
 => i2c mw 0x6c 0x26 0x05
 => i2c olen 0x6c 2
 => i2c mw 0x6c 0x26c 0x2e

To use the UFS controller, we need the following patch too:
https://lore.kernel.org/all/20220411124932.3765571-1-yoshihiro.shimoda.uh@renesas.com/

Thank you for your patch. There is something to discuss/improve.

No underscores in node names. Node names should be generic, so if you
insist on prefix, it could be "ufs30-clk".

Node name: ufs (it is not a SCSI device, AFAIK).

Thanks for the patches. Somehow I did not got entire set (bindings
missing) and I cannot find any of them on lore.kernel.org. Did you have
some bounces or sending troubles?

Best regards,

No need for maxItems. Please test your bindings with dt_binding_check,
because you should see a warning about it, AFAIR.

You probably need "__maybe_unused" if you want to keep of_match_ptr.
Compile test with W=1 on other platforms should point it out. Other
solution is to remove of_match_ptr().

My bot found errors running 'make DT_CHECKER_FLAGS=-m dt_binding_check'
on your patch (DT_CHECKER_FLAGS is new in v5.13):

This check can fail if there are any dependencies. The base for a patch

If you already ran 'make dt_binding_check' and didn't see the above
error(s), then make sure 'yamllint' is installed and dt-schema is up to

pip3 install dtschema --upgrade

Please check and re-submit.

(I had assumed that we should choose a node name from "2.2.2 Generic Names

The phy doesn't have any memory map area. The host controller can access
it via vender specific registers. But, the vender specific registers are used for
initialization of both the controller and phy. So, I don't need phys on the ufs node.

These are examples and at the time written, I am not sure if UFS was
considered. :) "ufs" is name of a standard, so it is a generic name.

Best regards,

I see :)
I understand "ufs" is a generic name.

Why can't you just clear MASK_64_ADDRESSING_SUPPORT for this case?

Unfortunately, the register (REG_CONTROLLER_CAPABILITIES) is read-only.
So, software cannot clear MASK_64_ADDRESSING_SUPPORT on the register.
I am also asking a person in charge of hardware why the MASK_64_ADDRESSING_SUPPORT
is set now, but I didn't get any feedback yet...

However, we can add the following code instead. Perhaps, it's better than the current patch?
