We see *lots* of new warnings in RISC-V with Clang 17. Here's one:

This rc kernel passes DAMON functionality test[1] on my test machine.
Attaching the test results summary below. Please note that I retrieved the
kernel from linux-stable-rc tree[2].

Yup, I can reproduce this with ToT Clang. It looks like the alias
isn't sufficient for Clang and we need to add an explicit __used
attribute. Can you confirm if this patch fixes the issue for you?

Palmer, how do you want to handle the fix? Should I send this as a
proper patch?

From the previous 6.7.11-rc1 and 6.8.2-rc1 report,
the armv7 and i386 boot failed on v6.8 and v6.7 [1]

Following two patches needed for the boot to pass.
90ad525c2d9a ("printk: Use prb_first_seq() as base for 32bit seq macros")
418ec1961c07 ("printk: Adjust mapping for 32bit seq macros")

Please apply the above two patches on v6.8 and v6.7.

It does: the hundreds of warnings are gone. Build-tested with Clang

Tested rc2 against the Fedora build system (aarch64, ppc64le, s390x,
x86_64), and boot tested x86_64. No regressions noted.

Same issue as reported by Naresh, this does not boot on 32-bit ARM
platforms unless we bring in the commits he identified.

Hi Sasha,

Commit 506a04d850a45d ("Linux 6.7.11-rc2") bumps EXTRAVERSION to -rc1 instead
of -rc2 as it should be.

Thanks.

I'm assuming this fix needs to land upstream, and isn't specific for
stable?

I'll drop the offending commit for now, thanks!

This is broken on at least the original Raspberry Pi, no output appears
on the console. Bisection tells me that the problem is introduced by
d7303ef54fae6 ("printk: Disable passing console lock owner completely
during panic()") though I'm not entirely sure I believe this. I've got
some bisects running on other 32 bit arm platforms with the same
symptoms which I suspect will turn out to be the same issue, and v6.8 is
failing in what looks like the same way.

BTW I did ask to be CCed on the review mails, it'd make life a bit
easier.
