hi, I've a bad checksum for SDL_mixer-1.2.9.tar.gz
I've tried to download it a second time and the bad checksum persist:

  that second checksum is, in fact, the correct one for that tarball.
and the sha256sum in conf/checksums.ini also doesn't match the one for
that tarball.  if that used to be correct, does that mean someone has
replaced a tarball with a different but identically-named one?

It can also mean the download is corrupt, try removing the file (and the 
.md5 file) from the OE sources dir and restarting the build.

Before committing this patch I would suggest comparing the new and the
old version to find out what is actually causing this and what has
been changed.
If we just blindly change checksums we might as well abandon them.
Also note that a change of the checksum means that everyone who has
the file in his/her download dir will get a checksum error.

For now a nack from me.

As this already happened before recently (perl twig) I suggest we
adapt a policy for this or maybe some automated removal (e.g. if you
have a file in your downloads dir with a checksum in blacklist.ini
that version is not used but removed or parked aside or something like
that).

not find any differences ????
Also this does not fix the problem that people will have wrong files
in their downloads dir.

Frans (who thingks the package upstream name should have been changed
after making the patch).

I haven't found any notice about SDL_mixer on that news link (only
SDL_image-1.2.9), 

Refreshed date on sources, can be sort of bug fix even without actuall
source change, ie if Makefile don't want to regenerate some file,
because its newer than its "source", but haven't checked if that's the
case.

If someone want's recheck old source and cannot find it, I put it here

No idea how to fix this, but for me, if it says I have wrong checksum,
first thing I do is remove local file + check if checksums.ini changed
(hopefully with some ACK or at least by some respectfull commiter)

Hm. That would put things in loser++ mode. If files are generated by
the makefile they do not belong in the archive  ...
Then again the website says:

    * Fixed alpha premultiplication on Mac OS X and iPhone OS
    * Fixed checking for IMG_Init() return value in image loaders

But I agree with Koen, let's move to 1.2.11.

SDL_image 1.2.9 has been released with a quick bug fix for Mac OS X and iPhone:

So what you just copy&pasted is changelog between SDL_image-1.2.8 and
SDL_image-1.2.9, which doesn't say a thing about changed tarball for
SDL_mixer.

in my universe SDL_image != SDL_mixer, but maybe I live in twisted
reality :).

libsdl-mixer_1.2.11 is already the default since Wednesday when Graeme Gregory
comitted a recipe for it (1.2.10.bb exists since 11 days) - only two conf files
set a preferred version for libsdl-mixer - which is 1.2.6, not 1.2.9: 

grep -r PREFERRED_VERSION_libsdl-mixer conf/
conf/distro/chinook-compat.conf:PREFERRED_VERSION_libsdl-mixer          = "1.2.6"
conf/distro/include/preferred-om-2008-versions.inc:PREFERRED_VERSION_libsdl-mixer ?= "1.2.6"

That means:
1.2.9 it was the default SDL_mixer only from 22 Oct 2009 to 11 Nov 2009.

This search also gives no results:
http://www.google.at/search?q="PREFERRED_VERSION_libsdl-mixer+=+1.2.9"

So I'd say that everybody who did done a git pull in the last 10 days and did
not set REFERRED_VERSION_libsdl-mixer should not be at 1.2.11 now.

PS: Because a non-existing PREFERRED_VERSION causes bitbake to ignore it,
people which did set 1.2.9 as preferred will see a build of SDL_mixer 1.2.11
and then track whatever is the highest version.
