OK.  It looked to me like .items() just returned an array.  (When I
googled for how <= behaves here.)

We haven’t officially.  OTOH, 4.2 is set to release on December 3, which
is less than one month before Python 2’s EOL.  So it would be close to
wrong to care at this point, I guess?
