If you discover any patch submitted via email that weren't caught by
kernel.patchwork.org, this means that the patch got mangled by your emailer.
The more likely cause is that the emailer converted tabs into spaces or broke
long lines.

If you're using Thunderbird, the solution is to install Asalted Patches
extension, available at:
	https://hg.mozilla.org/users/clarkbw_gnome.org/asalted-patches/
Other emailers will need you to disable the wrapping long lines feature.

NACK, partly. I think it is rather useless.

AF9015/AF9013: ACK, partly from the AF9015/AF9013 side. It is safe to
merge, it will not break any currently supported device. But I am not
sure if all settings are correct since I don't have suitable device
(AF9015+TDA18218) to figure out configuration and test.

TDA18218: I don't know. I have reviewed it, feedback can be found from
the patchwork. I don't resist to merge, but also I don't want to take
any responsibility since I don't have this device.

I know that a couple of users(including) tested the patch to be
working. Many users(from forum) is still looking for tda18218 support
or have been using a very old hg changeset using another patch also
written by Nikola.

I have been using that old change set for many months and its working
well for me.

Is Mike really the maintainer of the cx25840 module and not only of the
pvrusb2 one? If he's not the maintainer you should contact the real one,
cause I don't think that Mike can help much regarding patches for the
cx25840 in that case.

Also I might need to adjust the patch cause of the recent changes that
happened there the last few months. (I don't know when I'll find time
for this...)

No I am definitely not the maintainer of that module, and my knowledge
of its inner workings (though improved a lot lately) is still not very
good.

All I can do here is verify that it doesn't break the pvrusb2 driver
(which is what I was planning on doing).

These are cx25840 patches and I'm not the maintainer of that module. I
can't really speak to the correctness of the changes. Best I can do is
to try the patch with a few pvrusb2-driven devices here that use the
cx25840 module. I've done that now (HVR-1950 and PVR-USB2 model 24012)
and everything continues to work fine. Note, this part of the patch:

 		int hw_fix = state->pvr150_workaround;
-
-		if (std == V4L2_STD_NTSC_M_JP) {
+			if (std == V4L2_STD_NTSC_M_JP) {
/* Japan uses EIAJ audio standard */
 			cx25840_write(client, 0x808, hw_fix ? 0x2f : 0xf7);
 		} else if (std == V4L2_STD_NTSC_M_KR) {

is a whitespace-only change which introduces a bogus tab and messes up
the indentation of that opening if-statement. It should probably be
removed from the patch. Other than that, you have my ack:

This patch was superseded by the following patch:

Please use this instead.

I also retested the patch (with the recent v4l changes) and my device
continues to work as expected (using your current snapshot from July,
Mike :) ).

I wonder how that came in there... my excuses for this (and also the
removed new line some lines below that).

Hmm... I've read a bit in the wiki about submitting patches and read
that one should sign-off his/her patches... as I didn't do that back
then (as I thought that patch would be open for discussion ^^ - note to
self: add RFC next time), should I resend the patch with a comment and
the sign-off (and excluding the indentation mistake) or should I just
send a sign-off in reference to this patch? Or something else?

Regards,
Sven

At the end of the thread both Aleksandr and I concluded that adding 50
ms or more to each frequency change was not a good thing to do. Please
mark this patach not to be merged. There is not alternative solution at
the moment.

> Apr,10 2010: cx18: "missing audio" for analog recordings
> http://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/91879

The patch at patchwork is obsolete. Please mark it not to be merged.

The audio problem still exists and I was working a solution with Mark
Lord testing, but I haven't done any work on it for a few months. The
current fix, for NTSC with BTSC audio, is at least the first two of the
three patches here:

	http://linuxtv.org/hg/~awalls/cx18-audio2/

Mark reported the 3rd patch broke things.

Anyone with access to a bona-fide BTSC stereo broadcast signal (which a
STB will not produce) feel free to test.

On a general note for all CX2584x and CX23418 audio standard
auto-detection problems: without the problem analog signals and
detailed specifications on the Merlin audio decoder core, I am not in a
good position to fix these audio standard detection problems with these
devices.

Regards,
Andy

Just replying with your Signed-off-by is enough, but, as there's that small fix, the better is if you
could send a new email, adding Mike's ack.

Hi Mauro,

Sorry for the late reply about
> Mar, 1 2010: firedtv: add parameter to fake ca_system_ids in CA_INFO http://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/82912

The reason why I wanted to make this fix in the kernel driver and not in MythTV was that the problem was hardware related and not MythTV related.
I.e. I wanted to compensate in the kernel driver and not in the specific application for the shortcoming of this one hardware.
MythTV uses the CI as allowed by the specification, but due to the shortcomings in the card's firmware, the driver is unable to answer one of the CI
messages correctly. The current implementation tries to guess an answer (which is often the correct one) using the manufacturer ID as the
CA_system_id, but since that is not always true, sometimes the driver will simply lie in its answer.

I can understand your reluctance to the patch since it adds a parameter that requires quite some low level knowledge to use. However, I still see
that this should be corrected in the kernel driver of the "faulty" hardware and not in a specific application.

Regards,
Henrik

> If you discover any patch submitted via email that weren't caught by kernel.patchwork.org, this means that the patch got mangled by your emailer.
The more likely cause is that the emailer converted tabs into spaces or broke long lines.
