--- Comment #1 from JiangYu (lnsyyj@hotmail.com) ---
Hello everyone, I'm using ARM ubuntu server 18.04 and I want to use ceph +
tcmu. I tried to give feedback to the tcmu-runner team, but the problem may be
in the kernel.

The link is as follows:
https://github.com/open-iscsi/tcmu-runner/issues/627

I have tried to upgrade the kernel to 5.4.44 and 5.6.16 on ARM ubuntu, the same
problem

--- Comment #2 from Bodo Stroesser (bstroesser@ts.fujitsu.com) ---
Maybe I can help.

I already sent two patches to linux-scsi and target-devel, which I think fix
possible crashes on ARM. Patch1 already was queued by Martin K. Petersen in his
for-next branch. The second was sent as "PATCH RFC" and there is no comment
yet.

Based on these two patches I prepared a third patch that might fix the
described crash. I'm going to attach all three patches here.

Please test with all three patches applied. I think they should work with
kernel 4.19 also.

Regards,
Bodo

Hi Bodo,

I tested these three patches. When logging in to the backend target, the kernel
did not crash and worked well.
thank you very much!

Hello, after a few days of testing, I found another problem. When I use the
initiator login target, and format the ext4 file system, and write some data,
there will be an error as reported above.

Ah, I think I know what's going wrong. I think this happens only during
commmand completion if there is a padding at the end of the tcmu command ring
which is shorter than sizeof(struct tcmu_cmd_entry).

Unfortunately I missed the problem at this place while I fixed a very similar
problem during creation of a padding entry at the end of the ring :(

I'll come up with a patch soon.

I upgraded patch4 on kernel 4.19.118 and tested the read and write for a day.
No problems encountered again.

Thank you!
