Nonetheless I assume you do not have debug symbols installed for
libdrm_nouveau.so.2 (libdrm), nouveau_dri.so (Mesa) [and optional for this bug
wined3d_buffer_map (Wine)].

you install them.

It's quite simple

1. Clone ABS [1]
2. Navigate to one of the mentioned components
3. Edit the accompanied PKGBUILD, appending "!strip" in the options array
4. (Optional), increment $pkgrel
5. Build and install the package
6. Repeat steps 2-5 for the other two packages

mesa -> with its dependencies
libdrm -> with its dependencies
xf86-video-nouveau -> with its dependencies
wine -> with its dependencies

Does this still happen with recent software? (both kernel and mesa... and
probably wine too)

If so, can you get it to happen on anything other than Resident Evil 4? Is
there a free demo perhaps that you can repro on?

I believe there's a thing called 'winedbg', use that, I think it's more likely
that you'll get a useful trace that way.
