btrfs send/receive error

btrfs send/receive error

Hello,

I am having strange issue with btrfs send/receive:

#btrfs send -p /mnt/a/_btrbk_snap/debian.20160621_1 
/mnt/a/_btrbk_snap/debian.20160622 | btrfs receive 
/mnt/ext/backups/vaclfw/

At subvol /mnt/a/_btrbk_snap/debian.20160622
At snapshot debian.20160622
ERROR: unlink var/lib/samba/private/msg.sock/7992 failed. No such file 
or directory


But :

ls -la 
/mnt/a/_btrbk_snap/debian.20160621_1/var/lib/samba/private/msg.sock/
2330   2388   2394   29375  7992

ls -la 
/mnt/ext/backups/vaclfw/debian.20160621_1/var/lib/samba/private/msg.sock/
2330   2388   2394   29375  7992

uname -a
Linux vaclfw 4.6.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.6.2-1 (2016-06-15) x86_64 
GNU/Linux

# btrfs version
# btrfs-progs v4.5.2

What could be wrong?

Hallo Lubos!

I have got the same problems with send/receive. Had those problems
for several weeks or months now. Not sure when those started.

These send/receive problems are known and there are several bug 
reports all over the internet and also on this list.

Not sure if or when this gets fixed. It's broken atm.

Hallo Michael,

I would like to help to debug the issue. Something I can do/get
logs/whatever to speed up the root cause analysis and get it fixed?

I am not the right one to adress with this issue.

I, too, am only suffering from the bug, but not 
technically apt to address the problem.

You should search this ML and the internet for the
appropriate threads and help out there.

Typically get a new kernel where this is fixed, Filipe
has been working on fixing them.

Send box is 3.16.6 .  Receive box is 3.17.4 .

Just upgraded the receiving box to 4.0.2 which didn't fix it, so I'll 
schedule a reboot of the sending box.

Yeah, usually these problems are because the sender sent a sequence of
events that doesn't make sense and can't be replicated by the receiver.
Hopefully the server upgrade will fix it.

Otherwise Filipe will be very interested in getting the output of btrfs
send -v -v from the sending and receiving side just around the time
where it dies.

The kernel upgrade on both ends fixed it.  Thanks Marc, Filipe.
