As discussed in [1], ASoC core supports multi codec DAIs
on a DAI link. However it does not do so for CPU DAIs.

So, add support for multi CPU DAIs on a DAI Link by adding
multi CPU DAI in Card instantiation, suspend and resume
functions, PCM ops, stream handling functions and DAPM.

[1]: https://www.spinics.net/lists/alsa-devel/msg71369.html

changes in v3:
 - Return error if the function doesn't support multi cpu instead of
   just showing a warning message.
 - Revert changes for FE dai and compress device since we don't support
multi cpu for FE dai and compress device yet.

Bard liao (1):
ASoC: return error if the function is not support multi cpu yet.

Shreyas NC (3):
ASoC: Add initial support for multiple CPU DAIs
ASoC: Add multiple CPU DAI support for PCM ops
ASoC: Add multiple CPU DAI support in DAPM

From: Shreyas NC <shreyas.nc@intel.com>

ASoC core supports multiple codec DAIs but supports only a CPU DAI.
To support multiple cpu DAIs, add cpu_dai and num_cpu_dai in
snd_soc_dai_link and snd_soc_pcm_runtime structures similar to
support for codec_dai. This is intended as a preparatory patch to
eventually support the unification of the Codec and CPU DAI.

Inline with multiple codec DAI approach, add support to allocate,
init, bind and probe multiple cpu_dai on init if driver specifies
that. Also add support to loop over multiple cpu_dai during
suspend and resume.

This is intended as a preparatory patch to eventually unify the CPU
and Codec DAI into DAI components.

Add support in PCM operations to invoke multiple cpu dais as we do
for multiple codec dais. Also the symmetry calculations are updated to
reflect multiple cpu dais.

From: Shreyas NC <shreyas.nc@intel.com>

DAPM handles DAIs during soc_dapm_stream_event() and during addition
and creation of DAI widgets i.e., dapm_add_valid_dai_widget() and
dapm_connect_dai_link_widgets().

Extend these functions to handle multiple cpu dai.

Multi cpu is not supported by all functions yet. Add an error message
and return.

I noticed a couple of code changes, we should probably do a code
refactor first and add those changes, then add the multi-cpu support.

maybe this check should be added to the existing code before adding
multi-cpu support? it looks copy/pasted from the codec case, but is it a
miss in the existing code?

same here, the hw_free should be first made conditional on the stream
being valid, before introducing multi-cpu-dai support?

the logic for this entire block isn't easy to follow, maybe we should
first move the cpu case out of the codec_dai loop and refactor the code
before adding the multi-cpu case.

channels_min is no longer used so it's somewhat confusing if the new
code is iso-functionality?
I'd prefer a code refactor that we can double check, then add the
cpu_dai loop.

I would suggest introducing the new helper in an earlier patch, then the
addition of the multi-cpu-dai case would be a lot easier to review - and
make sure there's no regression.

This patch is difficult to double-check with too many unrelated code
moves due to the new helper.

The code looks mostly good, except for an error in soc-compress (patch 4).

I would still suggest refactoring code first, adding the new checks or
helpers first, to make sure we have the same functionality before adding
the multi-cpu-dais, see specific points in the other emails.

Thanks Bard and Morimoto-san.

Thanks Pierre for the review. My point is that we don't test
snd_soc_dai_stream_valid in the existing code since we assume the cpu dai
will support the set of all codec dais. For example, the cpu dai will
support both playback and capture if a dai link with one cpu and two codecs
dai which support playback and capture separated. However, we may have
two cpus dai which support different directions in multi cpu dai link case.

I do see I miss a snd_soc_dai_stream_valid() test above.

Or adding multi-cpu-dai support first then checking stream?
The reason is we don't need to test snd_soc_dai_stream_valid if we don't
support multi-cpu-dai

I will try to split the patch.

channels_min is to check if the stream is valid. It is replaced by
snd_soc_dai_stream_valid().
