[carl.yin] why I need move pm_state to POR, it is because if pm_state is SYS_ERR,
	mhi_fw_load_handler() will break, and will not download edl image to device.
	We can change pm.c as next, and revert the change to boot.c
     if (cur_state == MHI_PM_SYS_ERR_PROCESS) {
		if (mhi_get_exec_env(mhi_cntrl) == MHI_EE_EDL

Glad it is working for you. mhi_cntrl->ee == MHI_EE_FP check is
definitely needed.
I think the transition to ready state, however, could move to another
place. We
can try to maintain EE handling in a few important places only.

We can take that up as a separate patch in future.

I see a bug. In the print, local and device EE are switched. So device
is
actually in EDL EE when this interrupt occurs and with device in
SYS_ERR, we
should call status_cb with MHI_CB_FATAL_ERROR, but we don't.

In drivers/bus/mhi/core/internal.h:
#define MHI_IN_PBL(ee) (ee == MHI_EE_PBL || ee == MHI_EE_PTHRU || \
			ee == MHI_EE_EDL)

We have some changes coming here, but for now you may want to add a
patch to
fix it. The check should be if (MHI_IN_PBL(mhi_cntrl->ee)), so your
controller
gets the callback.

If EE was AMSS and a SYS_ERROR was received, we expect to proceed with
the
handling of mhi_pm_sys_err_handler(mhi_cntrl) which is what you do now
and it
does the required clean-up. But with Hemant and my proposal, we don't
need
additional hacks/if checks and extra code over there after SYS_ERR
processing
is done, so we can avoid that and have clean code/approach.

In RDDM, we wait for device to send us the RDDM image and then do an MHI
power
cycle. In EDL, however, host needs to send the image and since we know
EE went
from AMSS->EDL, we push EDL image in an existing way after MHI clean up.

[carl.yin] maybe we should treat EE EDL same as EE RDDM,
When enter EDL/RDDM, just need select a suitable way to download EDL/RDDM image viaBHIe,
then mhi device will auto recovery and enter normal state. do not need to Power on/off.
I find the driver handle RDDM by this way.
Another thing, when enter EE EDL, will not call MHI_CB_FATAL_ERROR

This seems sane to me. I'll review v2 when it gets posted.

There is indeed a FP EE, BHI spec will be updated with this EE next month.

Basically, once device goes to EDL, flash programmer image is downloaded
using BHI protocol (same as we download SBL image using BHI from PBL in
current use case). Once it is downloaded intvec sends EE change event
for FP. Also event is generated for the same which is used to create
EDL channels (34, 35) which is used by flash programmer to flash image
for AMSS.

 >> 2. send EDL cmd via DIAG chan, then modem enter EE EDL
#2 needs to be done in cleaner way. From AMSS when diag cmd is sent to
switch to EDL, device would send SYS_ERR which we can use to do a call
back to mhi controller to perform power down and power up. Instead of
moving pm state to POR from disable transition :-

This gets a NACK from me. I don't see the FP_EE that this patch
introduces defined in the spec. Where did it come from?

MHI wwan modems support download firmware to nand or emmc
by firehose protocol, process as next:
1. wwan modem normal bootup and enter EE AMSS, create mhi DIAG chan device
2. send EDL cmd via DIAG chan, then modem enter EE EDL
3. boot.c download 'firehose/prog_firehose_sdx55.mbn' via BHI interface
4. modem enter EE FP, and create mhi EDL chan device
5. user space tool download FW to modem via EDL chan by firehose protocol
