This also happens to include amd-2024-01-29 which wasn't merged.

Tom had made a mistake when he sent it, but it also caused a regression 
so he didn't fix his mistake and re-send.  To avoid pulling in the 
broken commit I'll revert it and make a tag and MR for it.
