Hi,

I am running MTD on customized imx6ull evk board, the root is a UBIFS
volume, installed from s ubinize image.

If I boot from a ramdisk to Linux, I could run ubiattach -p /dev/mtd2
and mount -t ubifs -r -v ubi0:rootfs-volume /mnt in ramdisk Linux, but
it failed in NAND kernel boot, looks like that the kernel was not able
to attach the mtd device or not able to mount to the rootfs-volume, do
I need to pass more parameters to kernel? Or what could I be missing
in the u-boot bootargs setup?

Sorry, that was fixed, please see an updated log that the mtd2 was
actually attached "ubi0: attaching mtd2", I am wondering if I edited
the /etc/fstab wrongly to cause the sytax issue and to fail the root

Hi Richard,

In u-boot, mtdparts=gpmi-nand:1m(boot),1m(ubootenv),-(storage), looks
like kernel did not know the name "storage", changed
root=storage:rootfs-volume to root=ubi0:rootfs-volume, it went to

Has that issues been resolved long time ago or is that link still
relavent to today's kernel mount to UBIFS volume

Do I need a patch to fix it in kernel 4.19?

Does it has to use rw,relatime in fstab? My rootfs-volume is RO, can
the RO rootfs-volume work on kernel mounting?

It cannot use static read only rootfs volume, change to rootfs to RW
to replace vol_type=static by vol_type=dynamic, what works, why can't
mount a RO rootfs volume?
