Sorry, I missed to add it.

Olof, Arnd,
If you want me to resend the pull-request,
please let me know.
(but, probably it is too late, I guess...)

Yes, I think it's too late, I did a lot of merges yesterday and would
rather not rebase them.

Yes that is because I had to rewrite Nicolas' Author email to match his
Signed-off-by and in the process I became the committer and did not add
my Signed-off-by.

Nicolas, the commits you had submitted to me originally used your
@redhat.com emails in the Author/From, whereas the Signed-off-by used
your @kernel.org address. Can you have both match for next commits?

Thanks!

I just did. Is there a way to prevent this from happening when one
rebase a branch that was partially committed by someone else?

git rebase --signoff doesn't seem to detect if there's already a SoB, so
it might produce duplicates which isn't great either.

Thanks for the report, I've temporarily removed the sunx-fixes branch merge
from the arm/fixes branch and will send the pull request without it.

Maxime, can you fix it up and resend the pull request?

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I've removed it from the arm-soc-fixes tree
now (it's still in for-next for the moment, but I won't send that to Linus).

Maxime, can you resend the bugfix as a patch or pull request with your
signoff added?

Thanks for pointing it out. Just when I apply two last fixes before
sending out the
fixes pull request to Linus, I make a mess of the trivial fix...

Hmm so the commit I sent a pull request [0] for does have Signed-off-by
for commit 07bdc492cff6 ("ARM: dts: OMAP3: disable RNG on N950/N9").

Seems like some commits in arm-soc-fixes accidentally got rebased?

Sorry, that is in the arm-soc-fixes tree.

Thanks for sharing these. I'll add some slightly edited versions of
these to our soc-scripts repo and reference this thread and you as the
original author.

This is definitively very useful, and after being burned by improper
Fixes: tag recently, I ended modifying your check_fixes script and
putting in my list of pre-commit scripts to run with a wrapper around,
although that required making a few modifications:

- add an optional second parameter to let you specify a hook mode which
derives the git tree from the current directory

- added negative return codes upon error

- added a "did you mean" when the SHA1 cannot be found but the subject
was correct

I am not sure what is the intention of the target_subject vs. subject
check as it seems to always fail for me when using a commit that I used
as a test for the script, e.g.:

subject: net: systemport: Simplify queue mapping logic
target_subject: net: systemport: Fixed queue mapping in internal ring map

under what circumstances do you have both subjects match?

Cheers

Nothing needed at this time.

The point of making sure maintainers sign off on patches is to track
their path into the tree. In this case we still know it comes in via
you. But make sure you're diligent on this for future patches.

I should export my linux-next scripts as a git repo, but I haven't (yet) :-(

Attached pleas find check_commits which I run after fetching each tree
and pass the changed commit range. This, in turn, runs check_fixes
(also attached).

Stephen,

Thanks for the report. Time to automate this at our end, we've had a
few too many of these slip through all the way to you lately.

Where do you keep your scripts that you catch these things with? Do
you have a writeup of the checks you do? I should add it to my
automation once and for all.

Looks like I accidentally rebased the fixes branch locally after
merging that patch in. Will fixup, thanks for reporting.

FWIW, last time this happened in the at91 tree, I've switched to use
Stephen's script as a pre-push hook:

See below. You can give it any commit range you would give e.g. gitk.
I run this using he ranges reported by the "git fetch" for each tree
each day.

Thanks for the report.

What script do you use to find those? I guess I should check for
missing signoffs as well when pulling a branch.

Patrice, I've dropped the merge now, and picked up the one
patch in it directly, with my signoff. This should fix the issue this
time, but please make sure you always sign off patches when
you apply them from the list.

        Arnd

Yes, that's fine with me. Thanks for cleaning up, and sorry I missed
the sign-off.

Thanks, Stephen. I need to get a similar script going to catch these
things in our own tree.

Since this was a clean revert, I've redone it myself, carrying over
descriptions from the pull request and keeping attribution to Kevin.

Kevin; hope this is alright with you. We can revisit if not.

Hi all,

Commit

  5f56b7f4854a ("Revert "Merge tag 'scpi-updates-4.15' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sudeep.holla/linux into next/drivers"")

Reverts are commits as well and so need an explanation of why they
are done and Signed-off-by tags.

Yeah, I'm interested as well as I'm already using a pre_push hook to check

Please prepare a new branch. I'll rebuild next/dt (and our for-next)
to drop your previous version, and merge it when it's ready.

Thanks for the heads up, Stephen. I presume you have a script that
